Last week we organize a conference on Agriculture and we had the pleasure to learn more about the role agriculture can play in middle environmental economy. The speaker: Ngwa  Nkwah reveals all the advantages of considering agriculture as a priority for a green development.

Agriculture is the main area of development that can promise a long term development. As the basic needs of a society are nutrition, health and education governments should make sure that all the citizens can get a healthy and varied alimentation because as long as the people aren't well fed, they will never be healthy and this can created a bad nutritional results on the long term.

Then, an accent on agriculture will not just support the emancipation of a healthy population,  it will also have a great input  on the economic exchanges of the country.  Many countries import what their needs and export their productivity.  This should stop, we should first produce what we need because our farmers and scientists understand our nutritional habits better than others.

At the end, when it comes to industrial agriculture, we get more serious because it?s just a must do field for emerging countries.                                                                                                                                  During the last summit of the African Bank of Development, the authorities urge African leaders to develop and industrialize their agriculture in order to build strong economies in the long term.                   Turkey has transit from poor country to emerging country in less than 50 years by supporting and granting their farmers in order to compete with the Europeans.

As the globalisation of agriculture is increasing, the focus of large companies from old markets of developed countries to those in emerging countries.  This means that countries as Turkey, Brazil and South Africa should be prepared so that their green market won?t be taken from their hands in the direction of big companies.

Gallimard, in the world where manufacturing and service industries are growing, we should never forget that agriculture is the top priority for preserving our lives. I partly agree with you that each country should at least produce the food they consume, but in such a globalized society it is impossible to stop imports and exports. However, a number of nations do work for protecting their agriculture industry from disappearing. Keep up the good work :-)

    Thanks Heonjun ,Arushi,for your comments . I appreciate .
The environment can offer everything in the long term,we just have to learn how to deal with it.

I fully agree with Heonjun. Nations should be self sufficient for their food needs. They should produce their local needs to reduce the food miles of the food entire nation consumes, to boost the economy and to rely less on import. For this agriculture segment and farmers should be supported with incentives, agricultural education and security against crop loss etc. Thanks for the report.

Hi Gallimard. Thank you for taking time to write this report. I am sure you must have given a lot to think about to other participants that day. In my perspective, though, there are things that I do not understand. I'll give you a small example where I hesitated few seconds 'Many countries import what their needs and export their productivity. This should stop,we should first produce what we need because our farmers and scientists understand our nutritional habits better than others.' I am not entirely sure if the reasoning is solid, nor the possibility to realize halting the world trade seems likely. But thank you for sparing time to share your new ideas!
