Eco Friendly Airbus Now in India |

The first eco friendly A320 Neo built by European aircraft major Airbus made its debut in India. The plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday, and was delivered to budget carrier IndiGo. IndiGo is also the first airline among Asian airlines to have inducted the latest aircraft from Airbus The delivery of the first brand new A320 Neo reaffirms IndiGo?s commitment to the long-term future of aviation in India. This marks the beginning of the next phase of our growth and will enable them to make air transportation far more accessible for the people of India. The A320 Neo fleet will set a benchmark by significantly reducing the impact on environment and lead the way to a more sustainable mode of flying. Airbus claims the new aircraft is 15 per cent more fuel efficient than the exiting versions of A320. ?This is a proud moment for us. The fact this delivery makes IndiGo the first A320 Neo operator in India and in Asia, makes this moment even more special,? Ghosh said. ?It fills us with pride that IndiGo, India?s largest airline and the biggest customer for our A320 Neo, has taken delivery of its first aircraft,? Airbus Executive Vice President for Strategy and Marketing Kiran Rao said. On top of best in class operational efficiencies and environmental benefits, the A320 Neo will offer IndiGo?s passengers unmatched comfort. Powered by fuel-efficient geared turbo fan engines, the A320 Neos has many new features including latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together deliver 15 per cent in fuel savings from day one and 20 per cent by 2020, the statement said. This is equivalent to a reduction of 5,000 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year. In addition, the A320 Neo provides a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise, it added.

Wow that is really amazing Singh. One of the major problems the world is facing is global warming. I hope this will help to achieve the United Nations target about global warming (reduce the temperature by 2oC by the end of this century). Every country should take care of the environment like yours!

Tanverjit, efficiently making use of fossil fuels is as important as developing renewable resources. I hope to have a chance to ride IndiGo's A320 Neo someday. Other aircraft companies should also employ this technology. Thanks for posting, and keep up the good work :-)

Glad to know about debut Eco friendly Air bus in India. Congrats and all the best. It's time that concerned authorities/companies look into every aspect of aviation industry and switch to eco friendly alternatives wherever possible to reduce carbon emissions. Thanks for sharing the good news.

Hi Tanverjit! Thank you for sharing this news. Yeah I read as technology advances, the two major aircraft companies are now able to make planes that consume relatively less oil and hulls that are much lighter. You might like what you'll find on this site as well:

They are trying to make the solar plane fly around the world without landing. They failed once due to technical errors, but they're doing it once more. Hope they succeed this time :D
