European need clean air! !! |

All the 39 European countries have been ed by EEA ( European Environment Agency) due to the catastrophic environmental policies that have been implemented on the continent since 1994. Europe should work more on its environmental policies in order to inherit a cleaner air in 2050. The Executive director of the EAA, Mr Hans Bruyninckx said < We have thirty five years to make sure that our children born today shall be able to live on a sustainable planet in 2050>. On this new challenge, Air and water has emerged as the priority field. Can you imagine that 90% of European townsfolk are exposed to particles? What if you knew that 430 000 persons have died because of Contaminated water in 2011 ? Istanbul was the worst for living :In 2012,Istanbul has been the 7th most polluted city in the world. Istanbul folks suffered because of air and water contamination. In response to the bad results of our city, the municipality of Istanbul has been innovating by funding and supporting environmental program across the city. I actually participated in a huge environmental contest organised by Istanbul municipality and Chalmers university in Sweden. This contest was a vast program to educate students and also to ask for innovative From young leaders. I am happy I was in the top 30. Istanbul is great but we , young people are ready to cooperate with the authorities so that Istanbul can still be the greatest city between Europe and Asia. |

Gallimard, first of all congrats for being one of the 30 best participants in the contest! As European nations consisting a very intimate relationship with one another, they should also utilize that relationship on helping each other's keeping sustainable environment. Funding for green technologies and conducting contests national wide could be possible ways. Thanks for posting and have a great day :-)

Congratulations Gallimard ! It is heartening to see that the government of Istanbul is taking initiatives to encourage the youth ! If this is implemented seriously it will do wonders!

Congrats for being in top 30. Good job, keep it up. With innovative environment management programs and eco sensitive youth like you, I am sure Istanbul would be one of the cleanest and greenest cities. All the best. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Gllimard, after reading the report, i expected to find a Turkish flag with your profile haha. I didn't know you're living in Istanbul. I can see you care much about the city. It would be nice to see what the city of Istanbul is doing to clean up the pollution and policies for environment. I appreciate your report and congratulations for the contest result! Cheers.
