Forest Cover Increased by 5.1 per cent

by | 25-03-2016 16:56 recommendations 0

HELLO Eco Generation and all my Eco Stewards People,

Greetings from Nepal or let's say "Forest Covered Country" :D

In my previous Report, I shared quite dark part of my country or let just say of Capital City i.e Kathmandu being ranked as third most polluted city. However, here I would like to share praiseworthy news which I believe needs to be  talk-for-world.

Here I am writing to share a big news for you all. No doubt you have already guessed what the big and positive news is. Clever you ) Yes, you read the TITLE absolutely right my dear friends. Nepal has increased its Forest Cover by whooping 5.1 %. of Toatl Area.

Previously it was 39.6  per cent and now Forest accounts for 44.74 percent. The relative percent increment accounts for 11.2 percent. If this is not great news, I wonder what is?

The report was prepared by the Nepal government?s Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation with various partners, stakeholders and community people. Meanwhile WWF of Nepal is giving extra effort to ?zero net deforestation and forest degradation in WWF priority places by 2020?

This increment is mainly due to effort by local communities through establishment of 'Community Forest', rampant reforestation program and forest co-operatives launched at local level. The news comes at a time when every nation is working hard to save their remaining forest.

Here's Complementry for readers:
Recently The Government of Nepal and Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) have launched a National Action Plan to eradicate hunger from the country by 2025. The National Action Plan prepared by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and United Nations and with the technical support of FAO is said to be in line with the Zero Hunger Challenge declared by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2012.

For the Desert:
Prince Harry has extended his visit by 6 days which was originally only 5 days. Extending his visit to Nepal for working at earthquake relief camp, he said "The people I have met and the beauty of this country make it very hard to leave. Thankfully however, I'm not leaving just yet."  What's more, he is travelling with few security :D
To my international mates, If you plan( if you have not start now) to visit Nepal, make sure to come with extra package because you will fall for the wilderness, obvious increased forest cover and its vast diversity, warm love of Nepalese and our unique traditions. Additionally, we love our guest and for us Guest is more than deity.

Green Days Ahead!!!

Rahul, such a great news to Nepal! It is also very impressing that the accomplishment was made by local communities. This has shown how big changes we or our community can make. Thanks for posting and hope you have a great day :-)
(One very small but important thing I would like to point out is your math. Difference made from 39.6% to 44.7% should be written as 5.1%p increasement, or 11.2%. Very trivial thing but just wish to look smart haha)

Great report Rahul! You're doing a great job in promoting the environmental progresses of Nepal. It is really nice to know that the efforts of the government are successful in increasing the forest area. Although 5.1% may seem small, in real terms it is a significant progress. Best of luck for your future reports.

Wow! Thank you very much for the very good news, Rahul! This increase in forest cover is another victory for humanity. And just to emphasize, a 5.1% total area increase is relatively large, hence, the actions taken by the Government were successful.

On the other hand, it was also good to hear that collaborations with FAO are being utilized as they are the primary institution that concerns the welfare of the forest ecosystems.

Once again, thank you Rahul and looking forward to read more of your feel-good articles. Have a great day!
