Recently in a report ''The Economic Consequences of Air Pollution'' published by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD ) it was predicted that by 2060 around 6 to 9 million premature deaths would be caused due to the Outdoor Air Pollution all over the globe , which were 3 million premature deaths in 2010 . This is huge concern now.
?The number of lives cut short by air pollution is already terrible and the potential rise in the next few decades is terrifying,? said the OECD Environment Director Simon Upton.
As we all now that the Air Pollution has done alot of damage in the past but if we don't try to control it now it can be really dreadful in the coming future as stated in the report.
The report,?provides a comprehensive assessment of the regional and global economic consequences of outdoor air pollution in the coming decades.? The progress in the economic activity and energy demand might lead to large amount of air pollutants in the near future.
Health care costs which are around US$21 billion today will rise to around US$176 billion annually by 2060.
Sick days caused by air pollution will reach a total of 3.7 billion per year by then, from around 1.2 billion today, the OECD predicts.
The graph below shows that China, Russia and India will suffer the largest economic consequences of air pollution and the highest increase in mortality rates from air pollution is expected in India, China and Korea.
This is a huge concern now for humanity . All the nations must come together ASAP and deal with the harmful air pollution with aggressive measures .

Tanverjit, thanks for sharing such useful informations. They certainly mean a lot. Nations should be aware that environmental problems are not only limited to Earth, they can affect our health and our economy. Thanks for writing, and sorry for such a late comment :-(

Hey Tanverjit, thanks a lot for sharing this data. I took a closer look at the statistics and yeah i can definitely agree there will be a stiff rise in the health expenditure if things keep going this way in my country. And the data with the EU is especially interesting cause the result indicates right the opposite expectation from common knowledge. Thanks for bringing in the precise scientific result to our site. Cheers!

Especially with the technology and innovation we have today, we have to conduct measures to reduce air pollution. There are already machines which use the emissions to make diamonds, print, have it as food for pets, among many others. Thank you for sharing!

Air pollution is a serious threat to environment, human and animal health and to the economy as well. All the stakeholders starting from consumers/residents to governments to corporates should realise it and co-operate to improve the air pollution in their regions. Thanks for sharing.

Air pollution is increasing in every developing countries due to industrialization, In Nigeria, Ogoni Land was recently clean-up from oil spillage on the surface, that's really good. But i think we still have a lots to do concerning the massive carbon sent out to the sky by industries...
