In the high tech world that our generation is living, the real challenge is to find innovative and sustainable transport means that will be convenient and yet sustainable. In my opinion the real sustainable revolution will come with the arrival of the autonomous car those are incapable of breaking the speed limit, less likely to crash, as they will have the feature of car-to-car wireless communication, and programmed for optimum fuel efficiency. Autonomous driving certainly has a huge sustainability potential because vehicles driving at the same slower speeds and quite close to each other will reduce fuel costs and maximize road space. Driverless cars sounds exciting I am sharing an interesting link to check out a Detailed Driverless car market watch for most brands and expected launch http://www.driverless-future.com/?page_id=384 So, till we see this happen we must try alternative transportation for commuting as- Alternative transportation commuting saves huge metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. It is also very interesting to know that the European Commission is hoping that the CO2 emission will fall to 95g per km of CO2 by 2021 and UK government on the other hand is targeting that all vehicles in the country must be ultra low emission and have CO2 emission less than 75g per km by 2040. Technology is bringing improvements in production and fuel efficiency, and encouraging drive more sustainably and change the way we use and think about the car. A recent news video confirms that the Future Tesla cars may go even farther without needing a recharge http://www.usatoday.com/videos/money/cars/2016/08/15/88764210/ Today worldwide, there are over a billion cars on the road, forcing governments to impose more stringent pollution emission standards on new cars. A report in the below link confirms that there are 1.2 Billion Vehicles On World's Roads Now, 2 Billion By 2035

Hey Simran, first of all, I love your pictures ) it caught my attention while reading through the newly poste articles. About your articles, I agree with you as well :) I especially love this part: 'the real challenge is to find innovative and sustainable transport means that will be convenient and yet sustainable.' i definitely think that it is one of the main theme/challenge that cause people to be more creative :) <which is pretty important in our society... nice report!:D

Thanks for sharing Simran. How livable will our cities turn out to be when future technology that allows to emit less pollution is implemented! Well I don't have faith in autonomous cars, not yet, but i guess it'll be a new trend. Thanks!

Thank you. In the past i had read about driveless cars being launched by Google. I will follow your reference and read more.

I agree with you to say that Autonomous vehicles can reduce fuel cost and carbon emission. But what I don't really understand is how they can allow that. Do the driverless car won't use fuel or they use it less .? Thank you for sharing your opinion

Simran, I also agree with your point that public transportation is very crucial when controlling carbon emission. Not only developing alternative energy source, but technological methods should be implemented as well. But I would not be able to have trust on driverless cars, at least now haha. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I feel that especially with the innovation we have today, such technological aspects you mentioned should be implemented in public transportation, tying in with Arushi's report. Not only does private ones create a lot of carbon emissions, but also creates traffic jams, pertinent in many developing countries. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with you that we should use alternative means of transport like metro or other public transport system to reduce carbon emissions. Driverless cars sound very fancy but people are skeptical if they will be totally safe and sound.
Thanks for sharing.
