Tanzania is one of the few countries with large number of wildlife resources. For example Tanzania?s Protected land cover over 25% of the total land (Nshala:1999).The protected land is comprised of national parks ,game reserves, game controlled areas, mountain Kilimanjaro and the Ngorongoro area. Inappropriately communities living around those areas do not benefit from wild life industry. They live under persistent attacks by the wild animals and destruction of their crops.

This has resulted poor relationship between the wildlife authorities and the local communities, hence they engage themselves in the activities like poaching to gain admittance to and benefit from wild life and other natural resources.

Hence due to the mentioned challenges Tanzanian government decided to announce to return back, its former operation that will totally remove poachers, the method will be permanent to make sure conserved areas are not damaged by poachers. Poachers will be now considered as people who responsible for the destruction of economy and actions will be taken upon them. The government has also introduced a strategy to develop friendly relationship between communities living around protected areas and wildlife authorities. This will help to curb down poaching activities, so as local community they benefit as well from wildlife and other natural resources.

Those has been said by the minister of natural resources and tourism, when Tanzania received aid from Frankfurt Zoological Germany institution. The aid aimed to increase security in Tanzania?s national parks and conserved areas.

This is a good news and indicates seriousness of Tanzanian authorities to tackle this issue. Poaching all across the globe should be considered serious crime and poachers should be severly punished. I hope that Tanzania becomes a safe country for animals and becomes threat for poachers. But all of us too have to play a role by boycotting the goods made out of animal skin or animal abuse so that their demand reduces and poachers have no market to sell dead animals.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for telling such news in Tanzania, Peter. Poaching should be considered illegal and be banned with strict regulations, but not many countries are showing much effort. I hope the Tanzanian government could come up with success at decreasing the number of poachers. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

It is good to see that the Tanzanian government is taking action against poachers. Personally, I think all of Africa's leaders should follow in Hon. Magufuli's footsteps, as far as being proactive is concerned.
