Majority of Tanzanians rely on wood and agricultural residues for their energy needs causing deforestation and environmental degradation .The problem of course does not stop there .Deforested places no longer supports wildlife leading to bio diversity loss.
Base on the first woman to be vice president in Tanzania (on the picture) she said that after environmental pollution what usually comes is environmental hazards .Hence she called upon all Tanzanians to be aware on the importance of planting trees and embrace its outcome.
Forest resource provide both products and by products,it is said that fuel wood and agricultural residues account for 92% in Tanzania. Mismanagement of fuel resources causes deforestation and environmental degradation.
Challenges on forest, Tanzanian government decided to raise awareness and introduce forest policy known as "mti wangu'' which means my tree.Mti wangu programme has been celebrated on 1st of October 2016 by emphasizing citizens to plant trees (20,000 trees were planted) and vice president and other political leaders being a good example on this programme. This has been done in order to overcome bad impact caused by deforestation such as temperature increase ,flood etc.

Thanks for sharing with us, Peter! It is very nice to see the vice president and other politicians leading the citizens to plant trees to protect from environmental disasters. I hope more citizens in Tanzania can build the sustainable life by both consuming and planting trees. Thanks for spending your time, and have a great day!

Glad to know about the Mti wangu programme supporting trees. I respect this visionary lady for taking such steps and thinking of environment. Salute to her and her efforts. May she turn her aims and dreams into reality. It's really good that her portfolio provides her a room to Supervise and Manage all Environmental Matters in Tanzania. Thanks for sharing.
