Service is an integral of everyday interactions within society, whether they be direct in terms of being part of trips and taking action to a certain issue, or indirect in terms of spreading awareness after research. Either way, it can find itself to benefit societies, and also the surrounding environment. Service directed towards these two aspects are especially relevant towards current world needs and in the context of Tunza Eco-Generation?s objectives as well as occurrences in the Philippines, the latter case is to be set as focus in the article. The NAUCP, also known as the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines, is a key organization in implementing support for the UN branch by means of education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture and communication. However, this even reaches to many other fields of study because when looking at a system as a whole, every aspect is interconnected. Under the NAUCP stands many student-led accredited organizations including that of a club I founded looking into as the name suggests, mutual peace and sustainability between all the nations, called Global Youth for Peace for UNESCO. Like all the other UNESCO club members, a passion to do what is right, especially regarding what our interests lie in. The NAUCP, therefore, organizes events such as Youth for UNESCO as to have club leaders collaborate and learn from each other. Youth for UNESCO this year was in Cebu over September 20-23, and I was fortunate enough to attend the conference with its main focus on the Sustainable Development Goals. This, being the first year Global Youth for Peace was accredited, there was an awarding ceremony just for that, but the other main aspect of my attendance was the presentation of bamboo as a sustainable source for construction, that of which my knowledge and passion of it can be traced back to even my first Tunza reports, which can be accessed for newly incoming ambassadors here: Presentations from other club heads including one on the awareness campaigns of the importance of water by the means of an app, and various school related events to target the aforementioned Sustainable Development Goals from fundraisers to festivals. In experiencing this exchange of ideas and feasible action plans, one can really acknowledge the importance of service. Overall, the existence of environmental organizations, but really, any service organization in general, can change the lives of many all over the world. In being part of one, you, yourself, get to change the lives of many and that truly is a rewarding experience. |

FYI, there was the distribution of Tunza goodies (mainly business cards and flyers) and it was great to know many were interested in the organization.
