On October 5th, Super Typhoon Chaba reached the southern coasts of South Korea and caused great harm to the inhabitants. It mainly affected Busan, the second largest city in South Korea, Ulsan, and Jeju Island. Although the typhoon was predicted, the disasters and chaos it caused were unimaginable.
Hundreds of people were injured and at least 7 are reported to be dead from the incident. Many of these people are still homeless and do not have a stable staple of resources. They also had lacked electricity/ power for a couple of days. Today, the 10th of October, the South Korean government gathered to discuss the urgent issue at hand. They said that they "will promptly roll out all necessary support to minimize the damage and inconvenience of the residents of the typhoon-stricken region," "actively provide support to restore damaged facilities," and "provide free inspections for flooded vehicles."
In preparation of typhoons, there are some small yet useful ways to keep in mind. First, keep your windows taped with thick tape or newspaper in an "X" shape. The main damage of typhoons are the breaking of windows, but this method will prevent windows from shattering too much.Second, place anything that could fly away from your garden, rooftop, or around your house, somewhere inside. Any object with the possibility of flying away could actually kill someone during a typhoon. Lastly, you much check to see if the drainage system outside is not clogged and working properly, because during most typhoons, it rains immensely, which is the cause of floods.
Typhoons are not man controlled, but we can still do our part in trying to minimize the destructions. Please pray for the victims of Typhoon Chaba here in South Korea so that they may quickly recuperate from all the damage. :(

Thanks for sharing the news, Soo. It was very heartbreaking to hear that a number of people are suffering from the disaster. Such huge scale of typhoon is not easily seen in Korea, but we should be careful in every day. Thanks for spending your time, and have a great day!

Yes this typhoon was quite odd in that it was hardly noticeable in the upper part of south Korea whereas most other typhoons bring nationwide torrential rain and damage. Well let's hope all the mass could be soon recovered in the southern area!
