Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (former Tanzanian president),bought rhino from South Africa known as George the rhino and brought to Serengeti national park in 2010 to increase the rhino population .
Despite the effort put forward by the former Tanzanian president, to increase these species population,poachers were known for setback in this mission.Three men were held accountable for the death of George the Rhino.
Two responsible men for the death of George "Rhino" were brothers and one was a resident.The Serengeti District Court decided to sentence these three people to 30 years jail after convicting them of killing Gorge the rhino.
They were also charged of killing rhinos and elephants,unlawful possession of government trophies and illegal possession of firearm.
Magistrate said the court was satisfied beyond the reasonable doubt that prosecution had proved its case.(www.allafrican.com)

Ideally, trade of wildlife and ivory should be banned. Although this punishment will scare some people off

Thanks for sharing, Peter! Although it looks like a proper punishment is made for the poachers this time, but in some cases, they are not punished enough. It is because their illegal activities are not easily found by the government. We should keep a keener eye on this cruel activities. Have a great day : )

They deserved even more than 30!!! We must all protect animals, thats what I think. Because they, unlike us, dont have a tounge to say that they are hungry or hurt, what do you think?

It's really preposterous that the poachers still have economic incentives for the illegal hunting! The market for weird superstitious medicine should be closed down. Well that is the hard part though. Thanks for sharing!

This sentence is a good news and will hopefully serve as deterrent for others with ill-intention towards animals. Picture shows cruelty to the extreme. I am so sad to see it.
