The greenest country in the world

by Xilola Kayumova | 18-11-2016 05:13 recommendations 0

In January of this year, Yale University presented their latest Environmental Performance Index (EPI) Report naming Finland as the greenest country in the world. Generally speaking, the report shows that world is making progress addressing some environmental issues while others have worsened considerably. There are promising trends in health impacts, access to drinking water and in access to sanitation. Air quality and fisheries, however, exhibit troubling declines. Each year, Yale's Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranks the top-performing countries for the environment, based on how well they've fared at protecting human health and vulnerable ecosystems.
But right now, I would like to grab your attention to the past. Have any of you looked at the reports which came out before 2016? Well, if you did not, no reason to worry! Because I did:)
So, many of us did agree that Finland is the greenest country and yes, we have to admit that most of us need some time to reach this country... But how come our countries can not be like Finland? Take a look at the past:
~In 2014, EcoWatch named Finland as the 8th greenest country in the world.
~In 2014, the Yale university again presented their annual Environmental Performance Index (EPI) Report naming Finland as the 4th greenest country in the world.
~In 2015, I couldnt see Finland on the list of green countries at all:(
Now, this is the greenest country in the world! So, what encouraged this country to put so much effort into becoming green? Or,  what made the other countries so sad to stop their green actions?
I read several times that Finland was named the greenest country because of these 3 main categories:
~ Clean water
~ Air quality
~ Renewables and smart grid
In conclusion, I want to motivate all my readers to keep on moving. Even if your country isnt on the list of the greenest countries(like mine:), dont stop believing in yourself and keep on trying to put your country on that list. Dont forget, dreams have the ability of coming true! I hope that every single country in the world becomes 'GREEN' and doesnt have any environmental problems at all. Also, I hope that we, the eco warriors will add our favors to the green development of our Earth.
Thanks for your attention.

Thanks for sharing, Xilola! There is still much to learn from countries like Finland and Sweden. I strongly believe nations all around the world are putting effort to follow these examples. Have a great day: )

We can attribute this 'green' achievement of these greenest countries to the fact that all of them have the best plant and environmental science educational attainments, especially Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The development of green technologies, such as turning wastes into steam, have been the focused of several research institutions on these countries. Moreover, the policies, as well as the implementation, are exemplary. So, thanks Xilola for sharing this to us! Awesome!
