The World According to Monsanto: Pollution, Corruption, and the Control of the World's Food Supply by Author: Marie-Monique Robin
This book is about an American company named Monsanto, a firm of global agro Chemistry Company. This book tells an important story about Monsanto's control of the world's food. The destruction of ecosystems is of no importance to them only they want to bring products in the market neglecting its side effects.
This book very nicely explains the genetically modified organisms (GMO'S), PCBs which were discovered by the company. Products that are used as coolants and lubricants are devastatingly harmful to human health and the food chain. Even the company was a major manufacture of Agent Orange, DDT, bovine growth hormones, Roundup, and transgenic crops like Roundup Ready soy, corn, cotton etc. The food it supplies causes cancer and infertility. The company Monsanto hides its research and earns profit at the cost of the suffering of victims and the destruction of ecosystems.
Once 'city beautification program' was sponsored by Monsanto. Volunteers recruited by the firm found themselves in Spontaneous Weed Attack Teams (SWAT) that patrolled the streets to kill weeds. The idea was to develop a phobia against weeds and to position Roundup as a socially responsible brand. Sustainable practices now a days give same results and produce the products in more environment friendly manner and healthier for the consumers to consume. The individual profit is only the motto of companies even if it leads to the death of people around them and surroundings.
In Organic Farming Bio-agents like Blue green algae increases the fertility, Bio pesticides like neem leaves and turmeric, Biological methods of pest control proved useful and Healthy cropping systems like mixed cropping, intercropping and crop rotation can be used effectively to get better production. The farm waste is effectively recycled and crops are grown in an environment friendly manner.
We as the consumer have so much power to create awareness. We should know the impact of Genetically Modified foods in our surrounding, the quality of the food supply, side effects of different products and damage caused to the environment by these types of companies for the purpose of corporate profits.

It's true majority of people are already well aware of the genetically modified organism but yet do not know whether they should be pro or con on this issue, etc. More info on this would help them to form their own ideas and perspectives. Thanks for the recommendation

Hello, Mohit.'Thank you very much for sharing the book. Anyway, coming from a scientific point of view, did the author of the book cited any credible studies, specifically any reputable journals? Because as far as my knowledge is concern, back then, I was given the opportunity to read a study which covers a review of the European Union-funded researches on GMO safety conducted way back between 2001 to 2010. There was a unanimous conclusion on these EU-funded studies which states that, 'no scientific evidence associating GMOs with higher risks for the environment or for food and feed safety than conventional plants and organisms.' Anyway, thank you once again. Looking forward to have more conversations with you.
