Education changes lives. It allows us to learn more about everything starting from business to the environment around us. It is truly a transformational tool that empowers people to do greater things and have a bigger impact on the society.
But sadly the education quality in many parts of the world, especially in the developing countries are not really empowering the children. And with this mission. I visited China last month as a part of a project organized by the Peking University in China. My task was to work with other youth participants to integrate sustainable development and enviornmental issues in the current education system of China.
We visited a poor migrant school where we listened to lectures, watched presentations, participated in a school tour and engaged the school children to learn more about the how we could include sustainability.
Then later we visited the primary school of Peking University, which had a better infrastructure and teaching facilities, to learn about how we could bridge the gaps between these schools.
Some of my activities of the project includes developing social enterprises, business modelling, research, financial modelling and etc to develop sustainable education for the Chinese children.
It was my first time in China and it was truly a memorable experience. I had a great time working with diverse international participants as well working with the brilliant children in the schools.
Overall, I saw this event as a stepping stone for an Eco-leader to learn how to integrate sustainability and enviromental awareness in the education process of a nation. I plan to use this knowledge and experience to engage children in Bangladesh to conduct more environmental activities. Please do wish me luck on this endeavor.
