Since the South of Haiti has been destroyed by the hurricane Matthew, a lot of people is living in very bad situation. Despite help they receive from NGO and the government, they still live a difficult life. The help that they receive is often using immediately the help is like for urgency, but over all that they need other help. Because, one thing that has caused more victims in the region is that people doesn?t really know anything about natural disaster. And you can imagine that if there is another natural disaster, it can cause damages almost equal to the last or may be more damages. Most of the NGO and the government actions are for helping people to raise themselves up.
But with all that help, one thing that we realize people are really need is to inform them about the natural disaster like hurricane, earthquake, flooding etc. One thing that can prove this need is because Haiti is a country which is very vulnerable face to natural disaster. Then people need to be educated, informed on how to prevent some damages that can be caused by them or to reduce the risks. The education of people will be very useful if we consider how that can contribute to protect the environment, the mountain and the forest to avoid erosion, climate change etc.
To make people inform about all that, we have organized an activity, planned a visit with about 20 young students to go there and meet some families. We have met them house per house, talk to them about the hurricane first and after about other natural disasters that they can confront in the future. We have taken the opportunity to make them conscious, let them know that could be less delicate if they protected the environment as well as they should. And we have also give them some actions that they can do quickly to face up the challenge.
In fact, this activity is one of the first activities that we have to do, because after that we are going to work on a way to promote an agroforestry system in the region in order to help the farmer to do agriculture and the reforestation at the same time because there is no really trees there after the hurricane. We do all that to contribute to the preservation of the environment and work for the global change.

Big up to you for your efforts to help. Going forward, I think Haiti should learn from Japan when it comes to building infrastructure that can withstand hurricanes and earthquakes.

Kudos to your efforts towards educating residents about natural disasters. Government should organise many events to involve and educate people on natural disasters, their consequences & how to be prepared for them. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mackeson! I feel bad that so many locals are still living in dire situation! I still remember how the earthquake struck the country so bad years ago. I only hope the locals will be able to regain their lives after all that adversities. Hope more help will be on their way. Thanks for posting!
