Firstly,I would like to apologize.I have been away from Eco Generation for quite some time now since I was busy in exams.But now I am back and eagerly looking forward to all the upcoming events.
UAE has always been in the forefront when it comes to environmental protection and engagement of community in it.We,here in UAE have wonderful opportunities every now and then to participate in numerous campaigns organized by environmental agencies.Mentioned below, are a few of them-
BEE'AH
Bee?ah, an environment and waste management company in the Emirate of Sharjah was founded in 2007. Bee?ah aims at transforming thoughts, attitudes and behaviours in individuals, communities and businesses enabling them to lead positive sustainable growth by providing the infrastructure, tools, facilities and initiatives to turn waste materials into resources.
Bee?ah strives to position Sharjah as the environmental capital of the region, and has thus set out a goal to divert 100% of waste from landfill by 2015, making Sharjah the first city in the Middle East and the Arab World to achieve Zero-Waste to landfill.
It spealizes in Solid Waste & Recyclable Collection, Commercial & Industrial Waste Collection, Medical Waste Collection and treatment, Hazardous Waste Collection & Processing, Re-newable Energy, Air Quality Monitoring and management, Environmental Education and CSR initiatives.
Bee'ah has won many awards for its environmental initiatives aiming at preserving the dwindling health of the planet.
EMIRATES ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP
The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) is a group devoted to protecting the environment through active participation of all the members of the community.EEG is a signatory of the UN Global Compact and a focal point of the Global Compact in the GCC states. EEG is also a member of the International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN).
The overall objective of EEG is to contribute positively to the advancement of sustainable development in Dubai and the UAE by acting as a focal point for people of all nationalities and ages concerned with environmental protection and responsible waste management.
It emphasizes on the importance of recycling,especially among the youth.Its recycling campaigns include paper recycling,can recycling,Battery cell collection and mobile phone recycling.it has recycled thousands of mobile since its establishment and collected tons of paper and plastics for recycling.
CLEAN UP THE WORLD
Clean Up The World is one of the biggest annual campaigns in the country organised by Dubai Municipality.
The campaign involves the active participation of supporting companies, voluntary groups, NGOs and enthusiastic school and college students who vow to protect environment from all kinds of pollution.
The response to the drive from private groups and voluntary organisations were unparalleled this year and has helped improve the campaign year after year leading it to become one of the biggest annual events of the UAE.
Over the past years the campaign has emerged as one of the best community-based initiatives benefitting from a great deal of participation from various sections of the society. It not only helped raise the levels of awareness among the people but also was instrumental in removing a large amount of rubbish from various locations in the Emirate to be safely deposed in designated areas.
38,430 volunteers joined in various activities and collected near about 20,000 ton of waste materials last year.The participants included 17 government organisations and 266 private organisations.

Thanks for sharing, Harmanjot! It was very nice to know three major events in UAE. I remember reading about those events(especially about Clean Up the World) through UAE ambassadors :) I hope UAE can become a greener country in 2017. Thanks for spending your time and effort, and have a great day!
