by | 25-12-2016 21:58 recommendations 0

The UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification), was created to forge a global partnership to reverse and prevent desertification/land degradation and to mitigate the effects of drought in affected areas in order to support poverty reduction and environmental sustainability

Every year UNCCD organises International projects and competition for young people all around the world through programs as "LAND FOR LIFE YOUTH SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVIST CHALLENGE-ARE YOU THE ONE " and the "UNCCD MARKETPLACE WRITERS COMPETITION". I was even semi-finalist this year.

UNCCD also organises s sessions and conferences of parties in many country members.  This year, from 12-23 October the conference was held Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. More than 6,000 delegates attended the session, including more than 75 high ranking delegates who attended the high level session.

During this sessions, students from the city of ANKARA were also invited. This event was one of the most important green event that happened in Turkey this year. This Conference, that was organised after the COP-21 of Paris, helped the different parties to consolidate their 15th sustainable goals that were signed during the COP-21 in Paris.

Hi Gallimard! Congratulations that you went to semi-final! That's a good thing right? These kinds of regional campaigns and competition will all help to promote environmental sensitivity. Thanks for telling us stories this year and hope you do the same next year :D happy new year

Thanks for sharing, Gallimard! I never realized students from ANKARA were invited to the sessions. I hope more delegates and students can participate in UNCCD's program next year. Thanks for spending your time and effort, and have a great day!
