Leadership training program

by | 14-01-2017 21:18 recommendations 0

On 6th of this month, I carried out a leadership training in my university. Students were just coming back from their holiday and so the numbers were few that attended. Out of the 25 people that I expected to attend the training, 15 of them attended. But however this could not prevent me from training and teaching the few that I had because they were too enthusiastic. The training was too conversation and we had a lot of energizers to boost up the mind. In this training, we engaged into small group discussions where I told the students to get ideas that we can put across to end the climate change and reduce on the carbon footprint. A lot of ideas came in in just a few minutes that I told them to think. I gave them a few minutes because I understand when one is given a time frame to do something, the ideas come from each corner. And so these were enthusiastic students that by the way things were, they were willing to collaborate and fight climate change through conserving the environment.

It is in this training that I told them to get groups of three which we shall be using to go to different schools and carryout the awareness campaigns. In this training I also introduced these leaders to the ?BIRTHDAY TREE?. A tree will be planted at each and everyone?s birthday and by the end of the year we shall assess the number of trees that we might have planted. This will be carried on until we make over 100 trees and more. Because understand everyday there is someone having a birthday so we are just looking for ways of setting up our tree beds from which a trees will be picked monthly.

In this vey training, I awarded a student from environmental science college with an Eco bag who partly helped with the facilitation. Students committed themselves to spreading awareness and in the groups of three I gave out promotional goods to help in the awareness. They were all happy with what am carrying on.

We also decided to have a community clean-up and picking of plastics and polythene papers in the community in February. We shall also have the symposium in February.

Wow, that sounds like a cool event!!! I really liked the idea of The Birthday Tree, that is amazing. Great job.
And to tell the truth, I may 'steal' that idea!

Thanks for sharing, Joanita! Sorry to hear a few students not being able to participate due to holidays. But I believe you and other students had a great time! And I hope to hear more about the symposium that's planned next month. Have a great day :)

Congrats to you on the successful conducting the leadership training programme. The best about this event that low attendance did not deterred you to go ahead. Birthday tree is a popular concept & is very effective. Planting trees is a good deed indeed.
