A prolonged drought in Indonesia could cause forest fires. It is not uncommon considering that forest fires in Indonesia also gave impact to Singapore and Malaysia. According to the Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika or Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), the main cause of forest fires is due to the impact of El Nino (1). Hot spots are usually located in Sumatra or Kalimantan. To fighting forest fire, government using water dropping helicopters or creating artificial rain. Additionally firefighters descended directly to the location. But this way is quite difficult because it is constrained by water resources. As a result of forest fires, there is smoke that spread until Singapore and Malaysia. Because of the smoke, people experiencing respiratory disease. School was closed and not a few people who had fled to avoid the smoke.

Forest fires must be stopped, and in order to do that, we must raise awareness of what forest fires can cause.

I remember that naturally occurring fire is actually beneficial for the eco-system as long as it does not go crazy and destroys everything in a colossal scale. As fire is usually ignited when the forest is too much packed and needs room for a fresh start. Hey thanks for letting us know how things are taken care of there.!

These forest fires raging across the forests and peatlands of Indonesia, not only fuel global warming but also destroy vital habitats of other creatures and is also harmful to human health. Thanks for reporting.

hello my dear Dezi.Forest fires caused by drought even arrive in some far regions in my country too and lead to very unconfortable situations as respiratory disease,schools closed and more.So I think ze and our governments have to take goods and rights decisions early.This situation is increasing day by day.Good.

The smoke caused by forest fires is very alarming. It has a widespread reach that causes pollution not in one country but also neighbouring countries.

the main environmental problem during dry season is forest fire. it harms humans as well as wild animals residing there too. hope Indonesian government takes good step in controlling it. thank you for sharing :)
