WOW WOMEN: A WOMEN's FEST 2017

by Ashtha Lamsal | 09-03-2017 16:23 recommendations 0

Dear folks, happy international women's day!

Yesterday, we celebrated 107th international women's day on the theme #BeBoldforChange organized by #betterchitwan campaign, Brotherhood and Sisterhood Nepal (BSN), Women's Room Reloaded (WRR) and Nepalese Youth Network (NYN) by discussing on various topics like sexual harassment, cybercrime, gender equity, women empowerment and so on. The workshop was chaired by Amita Kandel a young campaigner and some mentors working in different sectors for women were also invited  Sarita Tiwari (poet, teacher and advocate) Laxmi Panta (women entrepreneur, scout leader) Sharda Sharma Poudel (teacher and social activist) Shanti Dhakal Adhikari ( social leader and trainer).

I myself welcomed all the guests, mentors and participants. Purnima Thapa presented a presentation on cybercrime and Mamata Bhattarai presented a presentation on Women's empowerment. We had really a great time by playing games, debate, colors and music and also motivated by the mentors. The workshop was really exciting when we searched different words and pictures related to women and made a collage. And later on each group presented a special presentation with the help of collage. We also had a special live conversation with visually impaired motivational speaker Miss. Shristi KC also the founder of "Blind rocks". She is a real inspiration to all of the women with disabilities.

The best part of the program was confession and discussion on the confession and hope the confessor was satisfied with the result of the discussion. The two best group including my group were provided with a motivation award. We enjoyed every moment and at last celebrated by cutting a cake.

Last but not least, I would like to thank whole organizing team for making our day special. To all the women out here "You are bold, you are brilliant, you are beautiful and there is no other women than you you are capable for everything" J

Ashtha, thank you for the report. I see how excited you were from the report. Congratulation for the award. Among the topics discussed - sexual harrasment, cyber crime, gender equity, women empowerment - which was your favorite? For the next report you could choose one and write about it.
