March 3 was the world wild life day. This was a day that was well celebrated in Uganda at Uganda National museum. The event was attended by various number of people including the public institutions like the Kampala Capita City Authority, ministers to mention Ministers of tourism Ephraim Kamuntu and Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi ,UWA Executive Director Dr Seguya Andrew, Uganda Wildlife Educational Centre (UWEC) ED James Musinguzi, Uganda Tourism Board deputy CEO John Ssempebwa, civil society organisations, environmental and wild life activists, and primary, secondary and tertially institutions all assembled in the name of wild life. The deputy Prime minister was the guest of this colourful event that celebrated nature.
This was really a very interesting day that people really still care about the wild life day celebrations to remind themselves of the different species that we have and the need to conserve and preserve them.
It is during this celebrations that Kampala Capital City authority unveiled a wild life street on Kira road. The street was handed over to Uganda Wildlife Authority which will re grade this street to the standards. It is on this street that the ten wild life monuments representing species in each of Uganda?s national parks will be stationed.
The wildlife street will be of more awareness to the people as they will get to know the in-depth meaning of conserving wild life. And from this, the different ecosystems like the parks and forests will stop being encroached on which will have positive outcomes not only to the wild life but to our environment and climate.

Joanita, thank you for the report. I have never heard of the world wild life day, so your report was highly informative. Protecting wild life is definitely one of the most important acts we should not forget and I am sure a wild life street will do a great role. Please tell us more on a wild life in Uganda. For example, any endangered species, any well protected species.
