As per World Health Organisation [WHO] report in the year 2012 there were 7 million annual deaths directly linked to air pollution. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2014/air-pollution/en/ Therefore, it is an important area of concern. UAE government has realized this long before and has taken extensive measures in this regard. Barring the brief period of dust storms, the air pollution levels of UAE are within international standards. Dust storms are also not so menacing here. There occur rarely. The control of Atmospheric Particulate Matter was achieved through lots of hard work in sustainable direction. Just yesterday, Dubai opened the world¡¯s largest solar park http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/environment/mohammad-bin-rashid-opens-world-s-largest-solar-park-1.1997375
UAE has taken big strides towards Nuclear power generation, sustainable transport systems, vast landscaping etc. Also, it has prescribed strict regulations for all industries for checking their emission levels. Not only making rules, regular monitoring & control is exercised as well. Vehicles are also checked annually with international standards. All this has made the air quality better in the UAE. I have also worked hard in this direction and during this year published two reports in tunza also. 1. WRAPS [Walk to Reduce Air-pollution silently] was published on 29-Jan-17 2. S2P Campaign was published on 19-Jan-17 The air-pollution problem is very critical throughout the world and UAE has set up an example of how to control this effectively. Despite its under control, our efforts must continue to keep this under permissible levels for generations to come.

Rohan, thank you for the report. I never imagined that so many people die because of air pollution. Thank you for the exact number. I am glad to hear that UAE's air pollution level is not so problematic. Also I wish to visit the solar park. I have a simple question. How is the solar park related with the particulate matter? If you could tell us more about the park, other ambassadors would be glad, I believe.

Thanks Daon. UAE must raise awareness about Air-Pollution & individual participation is also essential.

Hi Rohan! Thanks alot for sharing some initiatives related to PM issue.
I sounds like UAE is on a right track in terms of tackling air pollution by PM.
What further measures do you think your country should take in the future?
Thanks again for your article!
