40th anniversary of the Tree Day in Togo

by | 04-06-2017 01:54 recommendations 0

Good evening. It was 40 years ago that the late President GNASSINGBE Eyadema launched the Tree Day in Togo after observing that it was raining every first day officiers June. On 1 June 2017, despite the lack of rain due to climate change, Ministers, Members of Parliament, the military, members of NGOs and associations and other Togolese citizens from North to South each planted a tree. In his press release, the Minister of Environment and Forest Resources said that this year's theme is "Replanting is ensured by wood and non-wood forest products for present and future generations". To participate also in the reforestation policy of the MERF, I asked two hundred and fifty young plants from the Directorate of Forest Resources and by June 15, its plants will be planted in an area within the High school of Baguida.

Hi Tevi! Thanks for sharing your report on Tree day:) So it's a nation-wide event that everyone joins to plant trees, right? If so, it's amazing that people voluntarily participate in this move and i woder how! Were there any spcecial starting points or national campaign?

Tevi, thank you for your report. So there is a Tree Day in Togo. It would be worth writing more about how it came to be and how much people are enjoying the day in Togo. In addition, did you go out there to plant a tree? :)
