Successful Completion of Eco-Talk 2017

Today (22 June 2017) an environmental awareness program titled Eco-Talk 2017 was organized by me. The event was conducted within the premises of a housing society in Delhi NCR (National Capital Region) and witnessed an impressive number of enthusiastic audiences. Despite the low number of initial audiences (about 30), the program gradually managed to grab the attention of over 50 children of the community.

In order to make this awareness camp a success, we cordially invited Sub Inspector Tyagi of the Indian Police along with another one of his colleague and the Vice President of the society's welfare committee, as chief guests. The esteemed presence of these chief guests further helped motivate the concerned audience.

OVERVIEW

Eco Talk 2017 proved to be a great success and the remarkable number of children who attended it is certainly proof enough! Since the program was only meant for children aged 7-14 yrs, I chose to throw light upon some simple environmental terms that the future generation of our nation ought to know.

I began by giving an introduction of Tunza Eco-Generation and explaining why we had gathered there. Through a series of examples, I explained what the term environment meant and what environmental conservation was. In order to help the kids understand why we needed to save earth, I discussed with them the resources nature grants to us... from water to air to paper to medicines to fabrics!

To make the session a little more interesting, I called out a little girl from the audience and asked her how green her village is when presented with a reply that suggested her native village is far more greener than the city, I took the opportunity to introduce the audience to urbanization and its ill-effects. This was also accompanied by a little insight into our groundwater resources and how urbanization was becoming a grave factor for their depletion.

The tiny-tots were fairly surprised to know about the repercussions our irresponsible activities had and began sharing their opinions about pollution, types of pollution and how often they have seen the people around them causing pollution. During the interactive session, I also spoke in brief about all types of pollution and was quite impressed by the amount of environmental knowledge the children had already acquired from school!

TO MAKE THE SESSION INTERESTING...

In order to keep the show crisp and interesting, I proceeded with a fun game that included some music, dance and the involvement of important components of the environment like air, water, land and forests. The simple game was enjoyed by all and the winners were given chocolates along with Tunza promotional goods.

CONCLUSION

The awareness program was concluded by an address by the main chief guest Sub. Inspector Perjant Tyagi who, with his motivational words inspired the little children and explained how valuable their generation is. He also instructed them to start at school level and check people who do anything to harm the environment.

PROMOTIONAL GOODS

All promotional goods were distributed among the audience and the helping staff. The special guests for the day were also given lovely Eco-generation bags!
