Brick It On Camp

by | 20-07-2017 16:31 recommendations 1

Last June 8-9 2017, I was honored to become one of the speakers for the Brick It On Camp. It was an environmental camp that was participated by 36 student leaders from all over Davao City. It was complimented with a theme of awakening the environmentalists in the youth.

The camp was comprised of fun and engaging activities. There were  talks from different environmentalists like myself. I talked about Marine Conservation and my life as an active advocate for the Earth. I also introduced them to Eco-Generation and gave them some stickers and pens. There were also games, workshops and of course, eco-brick making.

Eco-brick making is an innovative solution to plastic pollution. It is putting non-biodegradable materials like candy wrappers inside a plastic bottle. That bottle will serve as a foundation for different infrastructures like schools and health care centers.

After the camp, the participants are expected to nurture green spaces in their schools by using eco-bricks.

Indeed, innovation is the strength of our generation!

Kudos to one of my color guardians Trixy Macaraeg and team for a successful event.

Hi Angel! Thanks for sharing about the Camp you attended!
Eco brick building sounds fun and effective way to tell students about the disposable waste issue. Hope more students would get a chance to participate in this valuable activity! Thanks for your efforts:)

Great event Angel. Glad to know of the eco activities in Philippines. The eco brick is an innovative and practical solution. I want to add that recently I attended the Living Rainforest Schools Debate in UK and there were many participants from Philippines. They impressed everyone with their knowledge and understanding of the environmental issues and possible solutions. I am sure you have great environmental education in your country! More power to you and your fellow Kabayan eco warriors.

Firstly I like the title of your report as well as event/program 'Brick it on camp'. Congratulations for the recognition and the opportunity you got to speak on this forum as one of the youth environmentalists. Its nice that you promoted Tunza Eco Gen. I love the concept of 'Eco brick' which is very very sustainable building block. Event must have educated and inspired participants for the positive environmental values. Thank you for sharing with us and keep up the good work, Angel.
