Recycling – A way of Life

As you are aware, fellow ambassadors my passion for eco-conservation is insatiable. I am always involved in the service to The Mother Earth in various ways.  Daily green practices, motivating peers, giving lectures, demonstrations, workshops and recycling.

Recycling should be a way of life. Prior to disposing of any item in the bin, we must think twice. Can it be recycled? If yes, please go an extra mile & make effort to recycle. For such actions motivations & persistence is required. It is not a matter of a day or week or a month. It?s a daily exercise. As you eat daily & sleep daily you must recycle daily.

I am associated with many recycling centres in the UAE. They are all so humble that they come to my house each week to collect the same. Due to this, my house has become a local recycling hub for my friends & neighbours. They all visit me over the week & hand over their bit of effort in recycling. I keep & maintain a list & weight contributed by all the members of the community. Periodically I organize an event where all the top collectors are honoured by the recycling agency by way of certificates & goodie bags.

Apart from this, I collect the recyclables from local restaurants also who keep it for me over a week & hand to me or to the recycling agency directly.

One more addition I wish to make here. In the case of good quality clothes, shoes, bags etc. UAE has provided donation boxes all over the country. People may donate usable stuff here. These items are sent to poor countries. I am using this donation box for many years now. Each time I donate some item I feel satisfied and again these items are saved from landfills.

Such actions have a twin advantage. Landfills are saved from added burden and recycling is done. The second advantage is that the contributors are recognized and honoured.

Friends, its very simple. Consistency, motivation and devotion to the cause are required inputs and the output is satisfaction. That is, I have done my part have you?
