Devastating wildfires in British Columbia Most of them confirmed to have started by lightning, and some by human error More than 1,400 B.C. contract fire fighters and support personnel supporting are battling wildfires in B.C. A Smoky Skies Bulletin covered Greater Victoria, Vancouver Island and much of B.C. Poor air quality persisted throughout the southern half of British Columbia as tinder dry conditions continued to fuel wildfires. Campfires currently have been banned across most of British Columbia. The recent fires have burned 604,000 hectares and cost the province Canadian Dollars 243 million so far. |

Simran, thank you for your report. It seems like the situation is at stake. We are living in an age of high-tech, but still we have difficulties fighting with big fires. I hope everything gets settled very soon.

Hi Simran, thanks for sharing your report.
I'm so sorry for the news. Forests and lands take millions time to recover, but can be distroyed in just few hours or even minutes. Hope this won't be repeated again.

It is really sad- so many cattle and livestock animals were killed or injured by the fires. Hope the ranchers too are able to recover from the losses incurred.
