Save Elephants poaching by some serious global government action

by Simran Vedvyas | 11-08-2017 01:12 recommendations 0

US officials destroyed nearly two tons of carved illegal ivory worth US Dollars 8-10 million in New York s Central Park last week to denounce poaching that kills nearly 100 elephants a day in Africa.

This is a big step in sending a serious message to the rest of the world. Stop buying ivory and let s save these elephants

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation carried out the crushing of tusks, trinkets, statues and jewelry.

The international trade in ivory was outlawed in 1989.

China remains the largest market, with the United States in second place.

Simran, thank you for your report. Destroying illegal ivory definitely sends out a message to the whole world. Although the international trade was outlawed so long time ago, it seems like so many are still out there on the market.

Hi Simran, thanks for sharing your report on elepant poaching.
Poaching needs to be banned, and global coopertaion is essential to do so. We should work on change misconception or myth of people so that there won't be any demands for illegal poaching.

Thanks Simran, for highlighting this action by the US government to discourage poaching of elephants for ivory. Illegally animal products coming from poaching activities should be confiscated and destroyed publicly. This will prove to be a major deterrent to all involved parties.

Elephants are the emblem of Africa. They have more importance either in culture, or ecosystem. we should take action to protect them.
