How can we spread the news on the emergency of protecting our environment? What is the importance of getting involved in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals? After asking all these questions, I found the answer. I decided to host a two day activity to talk about the Sustainable Development Goals, the Environment and the importance of Youths involvement. As the Eco Generation Regional Ambassador, I found important to scale this important activity on the sub-regional level by inviting some youth led organizations from the Republic of Ghana.
The activity took place the 24th November at the university of Cocody. We had a fruitful activity which started from 09 AM to 03 PM. We decided not to use the classic way of hosting activities by just having conference speech. We wanted to be more practical and less talkative. We then allow our guest from Ghana to give the history and a general view of the Sustainable Development Goals. After, I took the speech to emphasize on the importance of preserving the environment and its importance in the success of the Agenda 2030. After just these two speeches of about 15 minutes, we split our 3o young participants into groups gathering the SDGs into three main groups. We assigned a facilitator to each group. By doing so, our aim was to obtain solutions and recommendations from participants, about how to implement each goal of the Agenda 2030. This session which was the main part of our activity lasted for about 2 hours. After this session, each group was called to present its solutions found and its recommendations to implement the goals it has worked on. We got wonderful ideas and solutions to solving the social problem we are encountering.
The 25th we decided to visit an NGO which is doing great things in the environmental area. Our visit then conducted us to an NGO called ONG AIDE PUR. AIDE PUR is a Non Governmental Organization which fights for the right of the environment. At the office of the NGO, we were impressed by many of their activities mainly their ??AMBASSADEUR ECOLO?? program. This program aims at education students from the first to the third year of secondary school about environmental issues, and through this program a dissertation competition on environmental solutions is launched and the winners are awarded. Their second activity which is very impressive also is their activity called ?? PAUSE CAFÉ??. This activity aims at hosting a debate among environmental activists and NGOs to finally come out with stratetgies and solutions to tackle environmental issues in Ivory Coast. As Eco Generation Ambassador, I shared some environmental notions with them, shared my experience and invited them to visit the Tunza Eco Generation website. Many of them asked me how to beome Eco Generation Ambassador, though they are beyond the age to become an ambassador, I told them that they can be contributors on the website and they can still have access to the instructive resources on the website and also benefit from many advantages from Eco Generation. Therefore my aim by visiting NGOs was to showcase Eco Generation get them involved on the Website for all of us to benefit from the great things Eco Generation offers.
