Writing is what propels the youth into learning how to take initiative about global issues. It acts as a medium to spread awareness on what one is passionate about as seen on this networking platform. However, what is under-represented is that of creative writing.
Together with administrative councils of various UNESCO clubs around the region, we have founded The McKinley Review. Works of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry are published every four months. Featured articles on any of the mentioned genres are also welcome, with emphasis specifically on nature and environmental themes. We?re looking for words that challenge the prevailing norms. Words that offer a body to the abstract. Words that make us question the most basic of concepts. Our editors will close submissions for Issue 1 on December 1, 11:59pm EST (though this will be extended to the week after depending on the volume of submissions). All writing sent in after this will be considered for Issue 2. We welcome works from around the world. Words seek to capture this sort of image as if it were through the lens of a camera. Many are blinded by smog and looming skyscrapers but a story can prevent that. Understanding the present situation we are in and the opportunities open in the future is imperative to making a dream a concrete reality. For instance, in this satirical piece, emphasis is placed on the how anyone?s smallest deeds can bring about big impact in our environment. The harsh reality of things can serve for people to think about the course of events that have taken place and take into account the ones that will. We need to understand that the number of journeys to take is boundless. Each footstep is sure to have its resounding impact. |

Hi, Adam! The McKinley Review seems like a great way to gather thoughts on global issues from people all over the world, and to spread awareness by publishing the writings. The published issues are sure to get people thinking, either by making people newly aware about global issues or by letting people know what others think and providing an opportunity to review their own opinions on the subjects. Good luck in starting this new project! I think it's bound to be a success :)
