Ways waste can be managed |

Waste- something that we all produce in different sort of ways. Some people produce too much and some only a little, but at the end of the day we all do accumulate some amount of waste. This is usually either throw away in garbage shoots or stored and recycled for later. Although the latter is very inevident because people would prefer getting rid of their waste rather than turning it into something new and better. Recycling is almost always the best way to get rid of waste, even when it is exported abroad, it is still worth it. According to The World Economic Forum, plastic production has exploded over the last half-century, growing from 16.5 million tons in 1964 to 343 million tons in 2014; it is projected to double by 2036. Where does all this plastic go when we?re done with it? It is discarded. The recycling of plastic and other solid waste should be strongly considered as a sustainable way of keeping trash out of the waste stream and as a more productive option to a ban on plastic. Recycling of solid waste, whether plastic or paper, is climate smart because when you take it out of the waste stream it could still be turned into new products like t-shirts, sweaters, fleece jackets, etc. By utilising waste products in a constructive way, we can slowly decrease the size of our landfills. As the population grows, it will become difficult for the landfills to hold so much and trash. When this happens, our cities and beautiful landscapes will face pollution, poisoning and many health problems. The benefits of recycling are that it helps to keep the pollution in check and decrease it little by little. I myself produce a lot of waste in a day, but over days and weeks I keep it stored and have it recycled as it is a much smarter way to deal with waste. I have accomplished various awards for recycling a certain amount of waste products (paper and plastic) over a limited time. I?ve been doing this for 3 years and I would've recycled around 1500 kgs of newspaper and 100 kg of plastic by now. Besides managing my own waste I also encourage my community group?s children to do segregate, reduce and recycle the waste they produce. |

Hi, Anishka! I want to applaud your efforts to reduce waste through active recycling :) It's great that you've been continuing to do so for a long time now, and have also been encouraging the children of your community as well. I would love to know more about the ways that you've encouraged them to recycle! It would be awesome to hear about how you've been spreading environmental awareness in your area. Great work!
