Tesla Power Trucks in the UAE

Recent news in the UAE has been extremely pleasing since Bee'ah, which is a recycling and waste management company in the UAE becomes the first organization to order Tesla semi-trucks in the Middle East. The incoming Tesla Semi trucks, which enter production in 2019, will primarily be used for waste collection and transportation, including transportation of materials for recovery. They will also add to Bee'ah's growing fleet of vehicles, which total over 1,000 today, and continue upgrading the organization's transport options in making the fleet as eco-friendly as possible.

Overall, Bee'ah's modernized fleet will continue to make a significant contribution to reducing the company's carbon footprint, and that is by using the new Tesla Semi trucks alongside the existing electric vehicles, the vehicles that run on compressed natural gas and the ones that run on bio diesel, in addition to the boats that use solar energy while cleaning lakes and water bodies.

The trucks are capable of travelling 805 kilometres on a single charge and because of their ability to run on battery power, they are guaranteed for 1.6 million km of usable life.

A primary feature of the headquarters is that of its zero net energy consumption. The building will utilise photovoltaic cells to ensure complete reliance on renewable energy. To facilitate efficient use of the cells, Bee?ah signed an agreement with Tesla to utilise their advanced Powerpack battery technology. The company has acquired nine storage packs, with a total capacity of 1,890 kWhs, which will store the energy from the cells, and keep the building operational in the absence of sunlight. The use of Tesla Powerpack technology marked a significant step towards Bee?ah?s vision of a future where buildings are powered solely by renewable energy.

Designed by revered British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, the new headquarters is currently under construction in Sharjah, and will become a platinum LEED certified building upon completion.

Organizations like Bee'ah are the pioneers of development through technology and I'm sure all of these efforts will certainly pay off.

Hi, Asmita! I think this is yet another great example of how technology can be used for the environment. Trucks are known to have exceptionally high emission rates, due to their large bodies and heavy cargo. Switching to semi-trucks is bound to have a huge impact on emission levels, greatly reducing air pollution and the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Thanks for sharing the news with us!

Great report Asmita. It's great to see the way UAE is working towards sustainability and modernization at the same time. Using the technology of the future to be Eco friendly is indeed a great idea which will surely motivate other parts of the world to adapt to similar waste management methods. :D
