Sudan was the world food basket

Hello Tunza Family, I apologize for late post, in addition to the poor internet connection,  and I was having a technical problem with my laptop, if I wanted to post any thing I need to move outside my area, so my apology to you all.

Last September I went to a Girls primary school in order to evaluate their knowledge in environmental problems specially which are related to Sudan.

A group of students aged 10 years old were my first target, I started my presentation with a question, what do you know about environment problems in Sudan?

Some of the answers were expected, whereas some of the answers really impressed me. I remember a girl asked me: in the older school courses there were a subject in the geography with the title ?Sudan is the world food basket? but nowadays it is not even a food basket for the Sudanese citizen, its illogical, is it because of the government or us as a citizen or even the climate change? .

My answer was Sudan still has a lot of suitable lands for agriculture, but the problem with the water, because of that there are many people live with no water in their areas and sadly they die because of it, and if they were lucky enough to survive, they spend more than 4 hours daily to bring the water, our role is to offer them a solution like water harvesting.

I talked about water problems in Sudan, and also the desertification which it is the biggest problem we are facing. As well as climate change effects.

My last massage was: keep questioning and form new ideas until we can together bring back the Sudan as a world food basket.

You have been a great mentor Razaan to young eco enthusiasts. I am sure they have learnt alot from you and will grow up to work towards restoring Sudan's old fame as the Bread basket to the World!

I think water harvesting is the only solution of the water crises in Sudan.Have to conserve the rain water to grow food and satisfy the water requirement of the people of Sudan. your initiative to just go amid youth and small children to just educate them about environment and its protection is great job.

Hi, Razaan! Great job in visiting the primary school to give these bright young little girls an opportunity of environmental education! I love how you had them participate, asking them questions and listening to their answers. Participation and communication increase interest in presentations and allows the information to be memorized easily :) I also like your last message, telling them to keep thinking about Sudan can return to its past food productivity. Great work!
