Green Construction

by | 01-03-2018 03:47 recommendations 0

My sincere apologies for posting my last reports late. In many countries, construction, urbanization and development have been associated with massive cutting down of trees(deforestation)The trees can eventually grow back, but at the rate we?re cutting them down, they can?t grow fast enough. Tropical deforestation is the 2nd biggest contributor to climate change.

People have come up with many resolutions and solutions such as constructing while moving vertically upwards. Probably, someone somewhere is thinking of how we can set-up flying houses/floating houses which is very okay as the world probably needs more of these. I will however briefly write about the Interlace, a residential settlement in Singapore that integrates the factor of living in a natural environment. This building actually won the award of world building of the year in 2017(this could be like an equivalent of the Oscar Awards but in this case for buildings.)

There was a thought of fitting 1,040 apartments on an area of eight hectares with a limit of 24 floors. Most architects would just build 12 towers of 24 floors each to fit on an area of eight hectares. However, Ole Scheeren the Chief Architect of the Interlace thought differently by positioning 31 block flats horizontally following a hexagonal layout, a unique project that did not only come out to be unique but also catered for the green environment and its beauty.

That building is by far the most creative I have seen. Nicely written.
