Lets Reduce The use of paper

by Sumit Chowdhury | 13-04-2018 03:26 recommendations 0

Hi, greetings for all. This is my first report as a ambassador of 20th term. This months theme of the report is "Savings trees and reducing the use of paper". The main raw material for paper industry come from trees. Thats why millions of hectare of pulpwood are being harvested all over the world to meet the demand of the paper. It is so threatening for the forests, it will collapse the ecosystem. So in this report i have pointed out some ways to reduce the use of paper. You can easily follow these ways and involve yourself in protecting mother nature.
1. Make use of the virtual world From telecommuting to creating and signing documents and virtual faxing, there?s many ways to do things online. The more you learn about different ways to communicate and collaborate via the Internet, the less paper you will use and the more time you?ll save.
2. Use your phone more often Our phones are so diverse and filled with apps that the possibilities are endless for taking notes and writing down just about anything you would need to remind yourself of on paper.
3. Have a PDF file storage system Instead of printing out papers for filing, create PDF document and upload them to a cloud storage system, along with saving them in specific folders on your computer. This way, they are less likely to be lost and you don?t have to use as much paper.
4. Use an e-reader for books We can?t deny the appeal and value of books that are printed. You can hold it in your hand and keep it as part of a prized collection, but you can do the same thing with a Kindle reader. E-readers will also take up less room in your house and your books will always be saved and easily accessible from your device.
5. Take a second to think about your habits It may seem simple, but we?re so used to wasting paper that we don?t think about it as much as we should. Before you use paper products, ask yourself if it?s really necessary. The more you do this, you?ll find that your new ways of thinking will lead to behavioral changes that will allow you to use less paper and save more money.

Great report Sumit! I agree with you how we should change our base from paper to technology like our phones, i-pads or e-readers. It will save a lot of paper and be less time consuming. It will also provide a lot more information from the internet. However I think a problem that would cause is to our eyes, as constant use of electronic for school or work purposes will cause a strain to our eyes and could create a problem. So, I think that we should find a solution to that problem before we shift our base completely from paper to electronics.

Hello Sumit, I was really surprised to see a person having almost same mind about the use of papers.
Since we are all students, we get used to thoughtless use of countless papers, especially during our homework preparation, note-taking during classes, and preparing for tests.
In perspective of using paper in 'sustainability', we also need to use papers within 'recycling procedure', and also in 'trying not to use new papers and reduce the level of use'.
'Shared economy' can be partially implemented also if there are laptops and PDA gadgets available in our school or so!
    Keep up with your work!

    Hello Sumit!
Thanks for introducing ways that we an reduce the use of excessive paper use. By the development in science technology, our phones really do have a lot of functions embedded in it. However if one is not accessible to such devices, I also suggest the active use of libraries. Library is a good way to practice sharing economy!
    Thanks for the report!!
