Environment Day CleanUP at College

by George Zacharia | 09-06-2018 11:41 recommendations 0

Hello everyone! Its again the World Environment Day season and this year we have an apt theme ? #BeatPlasticPollution ?. We have so much of Plastic waste building up which is a serious reason for concern.

We have a National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit in our college, NSS TMC unit. To celebrate World Environment Day, this year we planned of a tree planting and waste collection drive.

Tree planting was done by the principal and we couldn?t attend it due to our classes and we joined the programme in time for the Cleaning Drive.

We split out into groups and went to pick waste. We were shocked to find the amount of waste just around our campus itself. We ourselves, knowingly or unknowingly, deposited a lot of waste around our teaching campus itself. This was a big eye opener for all of us. A majority of the waste were covers of chocolates or other food items, bottles, etc. We realized the importance of proper waste management. The waste generated form Hospital is properly segregated and managed with staff, etc. The waste from college needs to be managed by students ourselves. We spread awareness among ourselves and took a vow to always throw the waste in designated bins.

Happy World Environment Day!

    Hello George!
If everyone properly manages their own wastes than the cost needed to control the waste management system would reduce as the whole burden decreases. However sadly, this isn't kept well enough and lots of wastes, especially plastic is trashed out. Let's do our best to beat plastic pollution!
    Thanks for the report :)

Hello George, participants in your pic look so happy and enjoying the campaign they are doing :)
Though most of people do know that they have to pick up or handle waste and put it in rubbish bin, many of us feel so uncomfortable or hesitant to do so, letting waste go away and fly in the air. More you pay attention and act against small bad habits, more you devote yourself for the Earth!
Hope many others do know what we are doing and aiming to do so! :)
