PART 4/5 (Continued from Part 3/5) Presentation to school teacher and Headmistress (May 3rd Week) In the last week of May, I gave a small presentation to my class teacher (Prof. Mag. Jacqueline Draxler), followed by a presentation to the school Headmistress (Prof. Mag. Sandra Kohl), to seek their approval on the content of the talk that I proposed to present to the students on WED. In the 4th week of May, we had a school break and I was traveling to Dubai. Presentation to my classmates on WED June 5th After getting an approval from my teachers, I held a small informal talk in my class, introducing my classmates to Tunza Eco Generation. This was done during our English lesson wherein we were studying about environmental conservation and as a part of the lesson; and students could speak on their individual efforts or views on this topic. My teacher gave me 5 minutes from the class time, to present Tunza Ecogen to the class and explain how Tunza Ecogen can help youth to contribute towards environmental conservation. After the talk, I briefly showed the class how to access and use the website online. I am appending below, the content of my talk, as a reference for other members to use in their presentations if they find it suitable. "I am here to introduce to you a unique international environmental initiative. I am a member and Regional Ambassador of the Tunza Eco-generation International Forum. This online platform is a joint venture between UNEP and Samsung Engineering, to create and spread awareness about eco conservation, among the young generation. The interactive website offers participation in many ways. Non Members- Anyone can access the website and read environment related news and reports posted by young members from all over the world. Members-A free membership (for 13 to 24 year old students) allows members to network with other members by posting reports, commenting on other reports; and participating in various events, contests and programs. Ambassadors- Members get an opportunity to represent their country/region as Ambassadors, to promote Tunza Eco-generation in their community and raise awareness about environmental issues through reports from their region. Junior Engineering Academy is another great learning opportunity offered by Tunza Ecogen. It is a fully sponsored, 5 Day environmental education workshop organized every year at Seoul, South Korea. Not only is this Forum a great learning platform, but it also open doors to many opportunities. I believe that students in Austria are highly environmentally conscious, and canshare their best practices on the Forum. This can also be an effective learning platform for senior English language and/or Ecology students at our school, as well as an avenue to improve communication and leadership skills. If any of you would like to join the forum, please visit their website. Of course, you can contact me on phone or by email if you need any help or information." Being in a formal classroom setting, I could not take any photos. Continued to Part 5/5 |
