PART 3/5 (Continued from Part 2/5) Promoting JEA (May 2nd Week) After Tunza Ecogen announced the call for Junior Engineering Academy (JEA), I made posters, in the second week of May, inviting applications for JEA, in German and English. With the permission of my Headmistress, I pinned copies of these posters in the common areas of my school as well as in different senior classrooms. I have appended below an image of the poster in German with the corresponding English translation. I also shared with my schoolmates, the video recorded by me to submit to Tunza Ecogen for selection to participate in JEA as also my script for the video. This was to give them an idea about how they can work on their video submissions. Given below is a link to my video. I have also appended the first draft of my script for the video explaining why I would like to attend JEA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1AMjeqa-Sk&feature=youtu.be "Hello TunzaEcogen Family! I am Aaditya Singh, The Tunza Ecogeneration Regional Ambassador to Austria and the Middle East. I am a student of Grade 9, at The Mary Ward School in Krems, Austria. I recorded my video message, while enjoying the beauty of nature in the Blockheide Nature Park in Austria. Well integrated with urban planning of the neighboring area, the Blockheide Reserve also made me aware that urbanization is a basic need of the growing population of the world. The sprawling park served as a suitable backdrop for my video, because it acts as a pleasant reminder that urban planning and proliferation of cities can, and must, incorporate sustainability, without any compromise on environmental conservation. Cities must not contribute to the already existing problems of rapid urbanization, such as food insecurity, pollution, waste management, global warming, loss of biodiversity, and depletion of resources. Engineering is an integral part of designing an eco-city, right from building, landscaping and food security; to transport, telecommunication and green technology; as well as water supply, sanitation, waste management; and every other aspect of urban development. It is globally recognized that Eco cities are a viable route to sustainable development, and it is my cherished dream to be involved with planning of such cities, wherein environmental conservation goes hand in hand with urbanization. Junior Engineering Academy is an excellent platform to prepare youth for building green cities of tomorrow. By attending this ingeniously planned program, I aim to build a foundation to work in future on an Ideal Eco City Model. At this workshop I can learn from industry experts about the use of technology to provide practical solutions for urban problems. Through communication and collaboration with youth from other parts of the world, I want to study their perspectives and share my own views. Thus, in the long run, the Junior Engineering Academy will help me to contribute towards a better and more sustainable future for our planet. Thank you." Continued to Part 4/5 |
