World day to combact desertification and drought

Ghana joined the rest of the world on Sunday to praise the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought  (WDCDD) in the Talensi Region of the Upper East District with an approach all to put resources into land to enhance jobs

The worldwide occasion watched yearly is gone for making mindfulness on the effect of desertification and to impact approach creators and real partners to always gadget measures to battle it.

This year's celebration had as its slogan, 'Land has value, invest in it'. 

The global theme for this year's celebration is 'Engage policy makers to invest in sustainable land management for sustainable livelihood' with its sub-theme as, 'Upscale sustainable land management; secure our future and livelihood'.

The celebration, which attracted other stakeholders in Environment including the Forestry Commission, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Parliamentary Select Committee in Environment among others as part of the celebration, undertook a monitory exercise to three communities in the Talensi District where the Sustainable Land Water Management Project (SLWMP) was being implemented.

    Hello Isaac, thanks for sharing a good news of Ghana to combat drought and desertification! I recommend you to have a look at relative reports and news provided UNFCCC in the field of drought and famine problem in African countries, it would help you compare the information you get from WDCDD!

    Hello Isaac, desertification is one big problem that we are facing today.
    Desertification results in the loss of habitats and trees which acts as carbon storage. These losses trigger more damage in the whole eco-system accelerating environment destruction.

    Land has value, invest in it!

    I think it is amazing that there is a day to prevent desertification and drought. I really agree on the quote, 'Land has value, invest in it'. Land is the place where we get to grow a large number of food and if we don't protect it, we will have less food and cause their price to sky-rocket.
