Many of us are wondering about why this summer was unprecedentedly hot. A lot of wildfires happened, people died, and the temperature didn?t go down even at night. It held records of being the hottest summer in history. Why is this happening? Global warming is the main problem. Global warming has caused climate change and higher temperatures. It made heat-waves to be twice likely to happen. It made our summer hotter. In addition to that, unusual jet stream activity has been happening. It brought heat to the northern side of the Earth, resulting in a huge heat-wave in Europe, Asia, and America. South Korea experienced extreme temperatures that didn?t go down even at night. People died because of this intense heat. Its temperature of this summer was hotter than that of India, which left historic records.

Global warming can also control Jetstream winds. The North Pole warms faster than the Equator and the differences between those two temperatures may lead to slower jet streams. Jet streams flow to where most of the human populations live, resulting in a warm temperature to everyone on the Earth. Slower jet stream creates warmer weather and faster jet stream causes unsettled weather. Global warming causes slower jet streams to form and this led to unusual jet stream activity or extreme heat wave this year. Scientists were worried that shifts in weather patterns would cause longer and more extremer colder winters, hotter summers, floods, and droughts than before. Their concerns have been unfortunately true, as everyone over the world is experiencing extremely hottest summer this year.

Hello Jeewon
It really was extremely hot this summer in South Korea. Weather is getting polarized leaving only extreme summer and winter days. This not only bothers our lifestyles but the survival of many other living beings. There really should be a change.
Thanks for explaining the jet stream theory!

Hello Jeewon, I was looking for this data since I felt the climate for northern sphere was totally out of control during this summer. I also thought about the cheap price for fossil fuel (especially oil) in last year, since it involuntarily could have led us use oil recklessly.
Thanks for sharing this data and index!

This is really alarming. Something needs to be done.

Nice report Jeewon. This year large parts of India have touched 40 degrees Celsius.

Thanks for the report Jeewon. It was indeed an extremely hot summer this year. Place in Europe where the max temperature had been 20 degrees Celsius during the past decades, reached an unbearable 35 degrees Celsius. It is important for us to understand the problem and work towards a solution.
