The Barakah nuclear power plant, owned by ENEC (Emirates Nuclear Energy Cooperation) is the United Arab Emirates, no, the Arabian Gulf's first nuclear power plant station. The site is located in the western side of the UAE, about 50 km west of Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. It has 4 APR-1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400 MW electricity) nuclear reactors which is an advanced PWR (pressurized water reactors), they are supplied by KEPCO. (Korea Electric Power Cooperation) It all begun in 2009, (ENEC), Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation awarded the contract for the Middle East¡¯s first nuclear power plant to a consortium of South Korean companies headed by the KEPCO, Korean Electric Power Company. In 2011,
In 2012,
In 2013,
In 2014,
In 2015,
In 2016,
In 2017,
In 2018,
Unit 1 of the UAE's Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant will commence operations in late 2019 or early 2020. Although the Nuclear field has always interested me, I don't believe it is a major i am able to pursue or will get support for because of how risky it is due to exposure to nuclear radiations. (I don't wish to worry my parents) But, i encourage whoever is interested to take a step and give it a try! Its basically the future. I believe everything you do, every step you take, every small task you make will make a difference and contribute to the future. What I like about nuclear engineering is the fact that this major can have a huge impact, both good and bad. For bad, obviously harmful nuclear weapons and missiles. As for good, using nuclear energy as a renewable energy resource, you can take the UAE and everything you read in this report as well as South Korea as huge examples. |

As all of know about the good and bad impacts nuclear reactors can create. Hence, I believe that the UAE government should focus on how they can focus they can minimize the possible negative impacts and take forward the positive results.
Thank you for the report Fatima. Glad to know about the Progress has been making in the sector of nuclear energy. Hope to see more reports from you in coming days :) :)
Wishing you happy and prosperous New Year 2019.

Hello Fatima, hope new nuclear reactors work well in UAE!
As you already may know, nuclear power itself in producing electric energy is 'clean energy source making core' but disposing the used fuel tanks are not 'clean' at all, just deadly water to spill out.
I would look forward to UAE's brand new and better of energy production cycle and system in near future!
Thanks for your report

Hello Fatima
Nuclear reactors has its good and bad side, but I also do believe engineering and technology exists to reduce and minimize possible failure and to establish plans so that to make sure that things are safe in hands!
Nice to know that UAE and South Korea are in good collaborating terms!
Thanks for sharing the news :)

Thank You so much for your report about Arab World??s First Nuclear Reactor, i agree with Rosa that 'the collaboration between Seoul Korea and the UAE will bring forth a close relationship that will safeguard this nuclear power plant so as to sustainably contribute to the renewable energy sector of the country'
Keep writing :)

Hey there Fatima!
I trust you are well on this New year's Eve.
All-in-all, I am glad that they successfully completed the clear plant and I hope that the running of this plant will be a successful one.
like you are also likely that having a nuclear plant brings a lot of danger to Wards a nation. In the past have come to know of nuclear plants or reactors that have failed and as a result of that millions of lives were put in danger.
Really that the collaboration between Seoul Korea and the UAE will bring forth a close relationship that will safeguard this nuclear power plant so as to sustainably contribute to the renewable energy sector of the country.
Thank you for writing this report Fatima it was most interesting!
Yours faithfully
R.
