Palm Oil is all around us. It's most likely that whatever kitchen item we pick up, the manufacturing process or ingredient will have involved it. The largest palm oil manufacturers have a huge profit, and companies that exploit such will also get a huge profit margin due to the growing economy and the relatively low prices of raw palm oil. And yet, due to the many negative consequences it carries with it, how come it still prospers. This is because of misrepresented data it sends to the general public. For them, monetary gain outweighs the environmental consequences.
It is a fact that the term sustainable is misused by these said companies in order to deceive its audience. The following are some examples of them: Unilever: ¡°Through our Sustainable Agriculture Programme, we have been working towards the sustainable cultivation of oil palms for more than ten years.¡± Kellogg: ¡°¡¦all of the palm oil we use today is 100 percent sustainably sourced through a combination of GreenPalm certificates, mass balance and segregated, sustainably grown supply.¡± Nestle: ¡°¡¦committed to traceable sustainable palm oil¡¦.by end 2012, we will achieve a total of 80% RSPO certified sustainable palm oil.¡± And yet, they do not acknowledge how palm oil plantations force out the natural environment. Tropical rain forests are growing more and more scarce, and the natural resources, the creatures that reside in these said habitats, as well as the contaminants released are detrimental to all biodiversity on Earth. Since emphasis on these are ignored, perhaps it's better to place it on something else. Health. It is more at the forefront of humans' field of focus. Extensive processing of this, along with the many chemical inhibitors present in palm oil make it extremely bad for humans to consume. It inhibits the body¡¯s natural signals from leptin and insulin and can lead to obesity related diseases like blood cholesterol increases as well. So, what is the alternative? Coconut oil is one especially good constituent. It eradicates the negative consequences listed above, but the only downside is its price. If corporations realize the extent of the damages, prices may be adjusted accordingly.

Hello Adam, modern food contains palm oil especially the ones that are fried and manufactured in large scale. As you may already know, these products are no-ecofriendly at all and mean 'death' to creatures living in South East Asia. Awareness has been raised a lot so far concerning the increase of palm farmlands in Asia and it made human beings wipe out or burn existent forest to make farmland there. Since it is monoculture and requires a lot of water, it also made relevant regions facing drought and related environmental problems in such a short time.
Reminding us of what we are reading in bad news concerning environmental problems, we have to restrict ourselves by not using palm oil as much as we do now.
Thanks for your report, we need to get ourselves awake about it

Thank you for your great report Adam
Wishing you happy and prosperous new year.
Market price of any good is directy related to the demand and supply chain of the market. If the demand is high and the supply is low, there will obviously higher price and vice Versa. People prefer money over environment but we can't buy environment with money. Although the organization you mentioned have huge profits, they must donate some amount for environment protection. Government must bring a strong rules to protect the nature. Consumer also should focus on the products that are more environment friendly products.
Keep Writing great reports Adam :) :)

Hey there Adam!
Happy New year... 2019 is finally here :D
In recent years many companies have now taken advantage of the United Nations 'SDGs' programme where the word 'sustainable' is the key term utilised in most companies and manufacturers so that people can believe that they are also in line with the goals and objectives as that of the United Nations.
One thing that I should mention is that as long as we have profit hungry managers and CEO's as the actual leaders within these Mega companies, the longer it's going to take for prices to be equivalent to the Need of the people. Manufacturers and companies already know the side effects and potential dangers to the human health in general, we've only decided to look the other way so as to gain an economic margin Within our economic system.
Consumers in general need to be made aware because if there is a demand obviously there will be a supply and it would not matter how the suppliers gain the products they need in order to sell it to those who demand the product whether it is ethical or unethical. Cause you must you just be made aware of their buying power and the fact that the more they realise how important their voices are. Only then we see change in our economic system.
This is quite a big topic and I'd really like that you have a subreport that follows after this in order to give further details into specific companies (like you've mentioned) that actually go above and beyond with regards of to neglecting the environment and it's in sensitivity just to gain a marginal profit.
Yours sincerely
R.
