Organic foods perhaps good for you, but bad for environment |

Organic food has been on the rise since it came into fashion; vegetables, fruit, grains, dairy and meat grown and processed using non-conventional methods not only tend to carry a hefty price tag, but are usually thought to be of higher quality and better for health, although production of organic food products may not be good for the environment. A study shows that organic peas, farmed in Sweden, have around a 50 percent bigger climate impact than conventionally farmed peas. Recently, it was reported that organic food had a larger impact on the Earth¡¯s climate than previously thought, mostly because of how much land is required to grow it compared to conventionally grown food, according to the Economic Times. Organic food has become so popular in the United States that the US Department of Agriculture has even provided certain requirements for certification of organic products depending on how much of the product is made organically. Putting aside the health benefits, the yields each hectare produces for organically grown food is much lower than conventionally grown food because of the lack of fertilizers. To produce the same amount of food organically as is grown conventionally, farmers need more land, according to researchers. Other foods such as organic meat and milk, produced by organic-fed livestock, also require more land and resources, which is bad for climate change. Source: ANN |

Hello Sumit, meaning 'organic' has been started to be treated as 'premium or privileged' product to be but as we can simply read from its meaning, it does not mean 'ecofriendly' to our environment. Making use of our environment especially for huge profits has never been linked with 'environment conservation' in our history, and we have omitted and forgotten this fact for many times. Of course true organic foods do exist and many people do know how to raise them, but it is still ongoing problem as many of them are not truly organic and trigger climate change.
Thanks for raising this issue on our board :)

Hello Sumit
It seems that the currently trending organic foods are becoming problems because they promote an image of well cared scarce crops in the aspect of differentiated service rather than the organic farming methods that are occasionally reported in the platform.
If right management could be parallel with the aim for organic stuffs it might be possible to reach both goals!
Thanks for sharing the news :)

I didn't know that organic foods were so much harmful to the environment having more significant contribution towards climate change. Although, Organic have been very popular in the developed countries but they haven't been so much popular in developing countries as many developing countries are still suffering from the problem of food insecurity.
Thank you for your beautiful report Sumit
Keep writing beautiful reports.
