Minimizing Air Pollution (Small Act Great Impact)

by Kushal Naharki | 23-01-2019 21:18 recommendations 0

The effects of air pollution can have devastating effects on your health and the environment. Air pollution occurs when harmful or excessive quantities of substances including gases, particles, and biological molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere. Air pollution comes from many sources: Inefficient transport, coal-fired power plants, industrial activity, waste burning and other human activities are major sources.

65% of the deaths in Asia and 25% deaths in India are due to air pollution. 80% of lung diseases are caused due to pollution from other cars, buses, trucks and other vehicles. We can do a lot more to contribute to human happiness by following many little steps. Riding a cycle, using public transport, burning less coal are like small acts to create a healthy prosperous environment. Imagine our little acts can do so much like saving thousands of people who die due to cancer, heart attack or other air borne diseases. We can together create a safer and cleaner earth for us and our future generation with our small act. So let your action do some act of heroism and make this world a pollution- free, healthier safer world to live in.

Enjeck cleopatra from Cameroon has sent a story as her participation in my  online environment awareness campaign ¡°Small Act Great Impact.

She says:

Last week, I read an article online which highlighted the impact of air pollution on the environment. After being nonchalant for all my life, I suddenly gained an interest in protecting the environment and fighting against climate change. Earth is the place I call home and I will not just sit back and watch its environment deteriorate.

When I visited my friend , she mentioned an interesting fact: ¡°Did you know that the average petrol car emits about six tons of carbon dioxide every year?¡±

I knew that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming and climate change. If one car releases that quantity of pollutants, I didn¡¯t want to imagine how much all the cars and petroleum-run machines on Earth produce. I was eager to find a way a reduce my Carbon Footprint as much as possible.

To lead by example, I started by walking to and from school, instead of using a car like I normally do. I successfully convinced some students from my community school to walk with me. Walking with others is entertaining, exercising and environmentally friendly. We shared stories along the way and worked out plans to make other people in our community get more environmentally-involved.

Together with a few of my friends, we held a few campaigns where we convinced people to either walk or carpool. Carpooling reduces the amount of cars on the streets by letting people share a car ride. In addition to bringing the community together, it minimizes air pollution by vehicles.

Hello Kushal, thanks for mentioning air pollution and publicizing the severity of air pollution in our platform. (And can you add the citation of articles and statistical index mentioned in your report too?! Death toll and primary sources by air pollution seem so interesting)
Extensive and feasible means of sollution must be followed up to get away from severe air pollution!

    Hey they Partner!

It is so inspiring to see how your work with the online campaign has taken flight! I also agree with Enjeck that one cannot start to imagine how many tons of carbon dioxide emissions in reased from other vehicles.

Enjeck has really started an uprising where everything starts with 'you and me'. It is concerning that millions die from air pollution, but vehicles and other factors that contribute to this are still continuing to be utilised.

    I enjoyed reading you article!

Keep on doing the admirable job that you do!

    Stay blessed!
    Rosa
