The pollution and earthquake problems of the Marmara Sea were discussed in Tekirdağ (a city in Turkey). The dimensions of pollution at sea were once again revealed. Sevinç Erdal İnönü Foundation, Marmara Sea¡¯s 2018 Working Data on Every Side prepared in cooperation with the Municipality of Tekirdağ Süleyman Paşa Municipality and Kartal Municipality was shared at the meeting held in the city. Monitoring the Changing Oceanographic Conditions of the Sea of Marmara (MAREM) project leader M. Levent Artüz in his statement. In the Marmara Sea, the body of water has strayed from the standards that should be. ERGENE¡¯S POLLUTION AFFECTS THE SEA OF MARMARA In his statement, Artüz pointed out that Ergene River is the dirtiest river in the world. The Ergene stream in your city is considered the most polluted river in the world. This dirty water will be printed out the Sea of Marmara with deep discharge. Therefore, there will be nothing in the Sea of Marmara but dirt. With the project that is being discussed right now, Ergene River¡¯s dirt won¡¯t pass to Marmara and Ergene River will be cleaned as soon as possible. After his statement, hydro biologist Artüz shared the data from their studies for the detection of sea pollution:
MARMARA WILL FACE A 7.2 – 7.4 EARHTQUAKE ITU Eurasian Earth Science Institute MAREM Department of Geological Sedimentology Dr. Mehmet Sak©¥nç made a statement about the earthquake problem which is the second problem of the Marmara Sea. Sak©¥nç stated that the issue of earthquake is another big problem of Marmara Sea. The sea has an unprecedented flow system in the world. Its geological evolution makes Marmara important. Research shows that every 250 years there might be an earthquake. We are near the end of this 250 years period. An earthquake is most likely to happen. The earthquake¡¯s power will be between 7.2 – 7.4. Istanbul will be damaged very hard. Also Tekirdağ, Gelibolu, Çanakkale and Mürefte will be affected by the earthquake. The Sea of Marmara is a very important sea for both biological and oceanographic. If we can¡¯t protect it, it is our fault. UMUT KARADENİZ |

I do hope that you are fine and doing great with your works. Thank you for your report about Main Problems of Sea of Marmara. The water resources have been to being degraded to the increasing plastic pollution, waste deposition and many other human activities. Surprised to know that Sea are under the threat of earthquake too. Earthquake can be really dangerous and In Nepal we had felt the earthquake of magnitude 7.8 which had serious impact to the nation.
Green Cheers from Nepal :)
Keep writing great reports.
We are eager to read more reports from you.
Sincerely,
Kushal Naharki

Hi Umut,
Thank you for writing this report and I am pretty saddened to read that the SEA of MARMARA is currently contaminated by the dirt and pollutants, but in fact it is biologically and oceanographically significant. I hope the government could take more active actions/measures to preserve the MARMARA sea, and personally it was great to know about MARMARA sea through your report! Please keep up the good work! :)

Hello Umut
Thank you for your wonderful report on the problems that Marmara see is currently facing. It is saddening that Sea of Marmara, which is biologically and oceanographically significant, is at risk of being contaminated by dirt from other rivers. Thank you for bringing up this regional environmental issue. Keep up the good work!

Hey there Umut!
I hope you are well today!
It is most unfortunate that they River of Ergene has been badly polluted that it severely imprints on the Marmara Sea. This is seen badly reflected on the deaths of sharks in the Marmara Sea. The manner in which the Sea has been degrading over the years is only but a small peep into the future of the Sea if nothing will be done to mitigate the issue.
The Earthquake, though being a natural disaster, can cause to be very problematic for the local residence of the Ergene River and Marmara Sea.
I agree that not looking after such a resource will truely be our fault. I hope the local municipal officials will continue to liaise with one another to bring about a solution.
Thank you for bringing forth an informative report, I look forward to the next ones!
Warm regards,
Rosa
