by Kushal Naharki | 09-06-2019 02:56 recommendations 1

With the most youths and people being connected over social media, Online Campaigns play a major role for the awareness these days. World Environment Day 2019 hosted by China on the theme Air Pollution. With the slogan to be a part of Solution, Not part of pollution, I organized World Environment Day Creative Challenge. With the motive to aware people about the theme of world environment day 2019, As Regional ambassador to Asia to Tunza EcoGeneration I organized this program where youths were asked to share their creative solution to beat air pollution and way they celebrated world environment day to create awareness among people, promote Tunza Ecogeneration and enhance environmental enthusiasm in youths and children. All the participants put forward their creativity taking a challenge to create the change they want to see and all the participants were provided with certificate of participation. I will be sharing their creativity in my report followed by next report too.

The creative challenges of the of the participants of WED Creative challenge are:

Swodesh Rijal from Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur says:

"Air pollution and its impact are seen in our major city of Nepal. Research shows that air pollution reduces life span of people by an average of four years. So, we must need to do some action  to mitigate its impact. I am going to share some ideas to beat air pollution.

1.  Afforestation on fallow land, balcony, around the house, public places which helps to reduce the dust impact. We need to start the practices of afforestation of plant on our birthday.

2.  Government must improve public transport facilities and provide reliable vehicle.

3.    Regulation and follow of strict vehicle emission control.

4.  We must relate the concept of smart city concept/dream to beat air pollution.

5.  We /People reduce the anthropogenic source of air pollution

6.  Complete road construction on time.   "

Participation1

Tina Rai says:

"Let me wish you world environment day before I begin. As we are much aware of today's environment scenario which is getting worse day by day.We are Homo sapiens so it is our responsibility to be protector of our environment instead of being polluter.

I want to list out some of the things that we can do to minimize the air pollution:

1. Use bicycle instead of motorbike or car. Bicycle provides us with enough exercise to our body and the most important point is it is Eco-friendly.

2. Organizing tree plantation programs by the private and government organizations as well as individual can plant a tree on the occasion of his/her birthday.

3. Do not burn the plastic bags instead reuse it

4. While travelling individual should be responsible for his/her waste products and not throwing it haphazardly.

5. Once in a week, every community should organize cleanliness activities and follow it strictly.

6. Everyone must have motto 'to feel to owe to the Earth to give, give, & give and not to take, take, & take.' "

Asmita Gaire 22nd Regional Ambassador to Nepal, Tunza Eco-Generation says:

"Formaldehyde is an important chemical produced from numerous household products along with materials used in industries. Combustion and other natural processes ultimately results formaldehyde production. It is a water soluble gas whose adsorption to particles carry it deeper into lungs causing toxin, asthma attacks and upper respiratory tract problems. Formaldehyde vaporizes into the air, causing serious health problems at room temperature. It is a serious cause to air pollution. Apart from using mask while traveling to ban in use of firewood for cooking in hostel to beat air pollution; this time considering indoor air quality, on the occasion of #WorldEnvironmentDay2019, I planted Aloevera, a great indoor companion, in my mini garden pot. I planted few aloevera plants in my garden pot. Aloevera is one of the air purifiers plant. It is easy to grow and it helps to keep your home free from benzene, formaldehyde and other chemicals which is commonly found in paint and certain chemical compounds. Trust me, it has tremendous benefits. Try it!!! "

Isaac Rafick Abugri

Regional Ambassador to Ghana, says

As a way to reduce plastic pollution, I teach kids and organizations on the reuse of sachets, which is a common plastic product here in Ghana

 Participation 4

Great things are not done by impulse, but a series of small things brought together. Small change can create a great impact.

Green Cheers

    Hello Kushal

Thank you for organizing this meaningful event and sharing brilliant ideas on how to solve air pollution. : ) In overall, using less transportation and organizing tree plantation programs are seemed to be common answers. Also, combining the concept of smart city with air pollution sounds great too. I look forward to the next part of your report!
