The Importance of GIS in Nowadays Environmental Works

by Hnin Phyu Sin | 01-08-2019 01:29 recommendations 0

In the history, We, human being was not well skilled in using map in the environmental development. The thing of spatial analysis was first used in health sector and it developed gradually and inventive in a growth manner.
These days, the technical skill of GIS is very popular and in most of the environmental reports is used the maps in order to understand the condition by looking at the map at a glance. More and More software are evolved and many more upgraded programs are created in order to produce the map easily and feasibly. Only One thing we need is the input data which we can get from open sources, satellite imagery and from the related line ministries.
Sometimes, we can face the lack of data and cannot collect the data because of inaccessibility and other deters. At that time, the accuracy of data is not reliable and decision maker must be well to aware of this factor. Producing maps in order to visualize the data is made especially for the people who are not very familiar with the field and for the people who have to give the decision based on these maps and data and that¡¯s why the maps needed to be clear, concise and understandable. If the map was being difficult to read, it will be the useless to present on your work done. The map must be the overview of your work and it should be the supplement of your work to become perfection.
That¡¯s why learning remote sensing and cartography becomes important and GIS officer have to know that very well to give out the best maps for the related fields. There are designated colors and symbols to prescribe the item which you would like to show. Handling the GIS tool is very deep and many knowledges are needed to apply this tool smartly in the field we interested. In my working environment, not only GIS aid but also other planning tools are used to give the best solutions of the problem. Some of the planning tool is easy to understand without knowing the first-hand technical skill. By knowing the general sense of the specific field, one can conclude the condition by looking at the result of the planning tool.
Today¡¯s technological improvement is amazing and we, as a youth should learn for getting the better future we aimed and to inherit the knowledge to the future generations of ours.
