Today on the date of 18^th August, 2013, I organized a street workshop on the behalf of Tunza Eco-generation in Eastern part of Nepal, Dharan city on the topic of ?Who is more responsible for environment degradation in Nepal, the people or the government??.  The main objective of this workshop was to collect the views of the people regarding the reason behind the environment degradation and pollution in Nepal and also to create second thought regarding??the responsibilities we have towards our environment.

Pollution in Nepal is multifaceted. It is not only the overpopulation and lack of dumping sites that are creating pollution but also the attitude of people. Dumping of garbage near to dustbin but out of dustbin, misuse of dumping structures, etc is frequently seen whereas there also lies a huge gap between environment policies and implementation.

REVIEW OF THE TODAY?S WORKSHOP

I have always tried to do low or no cost programs. Today?s workshop is one of the examples of such programs. I interviewed 100 people passing by in different streets of Dharan Putali line, Chhata Chowk and Mahendra Path. People above 15 years of age were interviewed and each were asked a question, ?WHO IS MORE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENVIRONMENT DEGRADATION PEOPLE OR THE GOVERNMENT?? The workshop ended with mixed views and opinions towards the topic.

So, 65% of the people i.e, 65 out of 100 people said that it is people who are more responsible for pollution and degradation  and 35% i.e, 35 out of 100 people said that government is more responsible for the environment pollution and degradation in Nepal.
