Stop Exploiting Africa (Part 3) - Illegal Rosewood Export |

Yes you read the title right, the illegal trade of rosewood (an endangered species of timber) is still ongoing despite the numerous effort by environmental activists and some international organizations to enforce the ban placed on it, a Washington based Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report can confirm. This throws light on how enforcement of laws to protect mother nature is difficult down here in Ghana. And as I reported some months ago in my Stop Exploiting Africa Series, the foreign nationals behind the purchasing of these rosewood are Chinese nationals, this the EIA report can again confirm. The government in Ghana has currently setup a committee to look at this pressing matter but I do not believe this will do any good. I have never seen a bushfire in Ghana before, the only time a bush catches fire in my country is when somebody intentionally starts a fire in the bush and even with that, it does not burn for long before it is put off, this cannot be compared to the bushfires that occur outside Africa as result of climate change and a typical example is the Amazon Forest Fire. As a friend of all, I would advice that we Stop Exploiting Africa because the effects of doing that would be felt by each and everyone of us through Climate Change. #StopExploitingAfrica

Hi Justice!
Both the loggers and the purchasers are responsible for the deforestation and must immediately stop cutting trees. In 20th century, people exploited the nature and in 21st century, the earth has started to respond wildly. Human society should preserve the huge forests in Africa and Amazon.

I could not help but read your article as soon as I saw the title of it! I really think that strong opinions and assertions do help people to pay more attention to the climate issue:)
Africa has been exploited for a long time for various reasons by so many people all over the world. I believe that anyone would agree to this idea. Yet, it is our job to make these people change their actions with the awareness that these are some really serious issues. Yes, governments should act but sometimes policies and institutions are not enough to make real changes. I believe that public awareness and recognition are what complement these formal changes and it's our job to make these cognitive changes happen!
Let's all work hard until we see some green love in this world:)

The illegal exporting of rosewood is one of the most serious problems, you had clearly stated about it, all the environment concerned personalities as well as concerned people must be aware of the fact about illegal buying and should stop it. China can also seek alternatives of buying it, so that biodiversity of Africa can be preserved,

What I personally felt that ,what if China find alternative of buying Rosewoods?Lets act to protect it from our small hands.The environmental activitists must be cooperated.We shouldnot violent their works.
