Karnali province of Nepal celebrated NO PESTICIDE USE WEEK 2020 successfully with the theme "Eliminate use of Highly Hazardous pesticides; Conserve Biodiversity." various public awareness building programs were organized against the use of hazardous pesticide in agro-vet products. The Karnali Province is planning to establish labs in order to promote organic farming in the province. The ministry plans to develop model organic villages in many city and villages of the district that the province includes. Pesticides can contaminate soil, water, turf, and other vegetation. In addition to killing insects or weeds, pesticides can be toxic to a host of other organisms including birds, fish, beneficial insects, and non-target plants. Insecticides are generally the most acutely toxic class of pesticides, but herbicides can also pose risks to non-target organisms. Children are more vulnerable to pesticides exposure because their organs, nervous systems and immune systems are still developing; their higher rates of cell division and lower body weight also increase children¡¯s susceptibility to pesticide exposure and risks. Their immature organs and other developing biological systems are particularly vulnerable to toxic contaminants. Exposure during certain early development periods can cause permanent damage. reference: https://www.pesticidereform.org/pesticides-human-health/

Hello Bal krishna
People started to use pesticides for their comforts, but I can see that some part of the nature and human society itself is being damaged by using pesticides. And the bad thing is that it's the children and elders that are mostly affected by the use of pesticides. Therefore I think the campaign has big significance, and hope many farmers participate in the event.
Thank you for the great report!

Hey Bal!
It's Lisa:)
I think it's great to have such a week!
Pesticides are indeed harmful not only to the environment but to our bodies as well.
Yet, farmers say that it is nearly impossible to grow crops that have market value without pesticides! In Korea, hence there are many farms that are using natural pesticides instead of chemical ones. Do you guys have similar alternatives?
I hope to know more about it!
Thank you for always providing us with interesting information:)
Green cheers!
